all right we made it lucy you're free lucy loves being up north seeing about two hours she's gonna go run and say hi to everybody in the neighborhood and then come back and lay down on the deck lucy are you happy she's just so funny just run circles barking okay lucy go ahead lucy definitely does better in the country than she does in the city because every time she goes off and runs to visit people in the city they're like oh no dog on the loose and they stop her and call me immediately and anyway we're back at the hoarders farm and when i was moving the garbage up getting it all prepped i discovered there was some really nice sand i mean we're talking about beach sand it's almost like it's mason's sand is what it reminds me of [Music] all right let's see how she fires off i haven't visited this machine in a while so it's actually sat here for about a month oh wait look at that track on this side so this is crawling in the machine i was looking at that track and it's loose and i knew that beforehand but i forgot testing testing testing [Music] so this is a bobcat t180 you know an older machine by far well you'll see what i mean if you look at that roof that's pure rust i'll show you a close-up of that in a minute but this has got hand foot controls and it's hydraulic it's not electronic so it doesn't go through an elec my throttle is jacked so this has hydraulic control so everything is directly controlled right as soon as you hit a pedal you're activating the hydraulic cylinder where in the newer machines you move a joystick and then it has an electronic switch which then activates the uh and there we go camera falls off one of the things that we should i found out or learned was this old trick on how to harvest dirt from an army engineer and if you want to dig a really deep hole this is how he showed my dad and i how the army taught him how to do it and i was like 11. when i first seen this and i it was no big deal back then but it never really left me the problem is this is so rusty then my magnet won't stick [Music] and so this is kind of this is exactly what he showed us how to dig and i'm going to share that with you today and this is almost perfect for what i've got going on with that loose track on the one side and i don't have a grease gun with because like i said i remembered it was loose but i forgot the grease gun right um i can't really turn a lot i can drive forward and back all day and night without worrying about that track but as soon as i do a tight turn my machine is going to go one way and my track is going to keep going straight and i'm literally i call it cowboying out of the track so what you'll see me doing in this entire video anytime i'm turning it's going to be a very three-pointish turn or an extremely wide turn just because i'm worried about that one track popping out but i want to harvest about 20 sec i'm going to get three loaves and i look at these loads and i'm thinking i dug too deep right now golly [Music] which is perfect because the sand is so loose i'll show you how i get out of that the sand is really loose it's beautiful material god this is beautiful material now i'm peeling the black dirt off from the top i don't want that mixed in with the sand i'm literally going to be using this to rebuild a beach that was washed out when our cabin flooded twice and i just never fixed it but that is coming up in a future video where we actually start to rebuild that look at this look at that material that sand is amazing but man look at that so i was figuring i'm getting about nine ton on this trailer per load you guys tell me how much you think now remember this is almost refined screened sand and that actually adds to the weight because the particulate matter packs real tight on fine sand so you get more material in a denser space bumpy ride bulls bumpy ride make some more interesting [Music] so [Music] so this straight forward and backward action i don't have to worry about that track much i mean i'm still conscious of it but don't have to worry about it a whole lot today's beverage is lemon splash water and it is really good [Music] it's got a bit of a light to it [Music] let's throttle her down [Music] all right let's see how we're doing the sand is really heavy but we got more space might be a bit of a load on the let's look at how much work oh look at chains are down so no more tongue weight although we got space in the tongue we got space we got plenty of space but she's maxed out on weight right there this sand is a heavy load man oh yeah oh yeah that's a load all right let's go on down the road you know it's actually kind of deceiving this trailer because this is one of those dump trailers with the high sides most dump trailers start right where that fold is that's the tip typically the top of them so this and this trailer is also 16 foot long so she's deaf end with this heavier material what i was saying is is because the actual granulars the reason is so heavy the granulars pack tighter than they do with different kinds of material where there could be more air voids inside of them so sand typically is going to be one of your heavier materials and it was pretty wet so it makes it even heavier yet [Music] so my goal today is to get three loads of this material in and up at the top i eventually got to get it down to the bottom but i had i have tried to drive directly down there didn't work so hot but luckily i was in a dodge no i mean i barely got out she was that that dump trailer was buried with the box straight up in the air i mean it was she's saying she's sick so it's safer for us to dump it on the top but i gotta get it down to the bottom and i can't tear that grass up because of that whole lake side there and this time of year there's no way that it's going to be restored so i've got to get the material delivered and then get it down to the bottom but that's not today i just want to get the material there and ready to go so one of the things i've got to do with this dump trailer is really clean the gate because there's a section right where the gate closes that it meets the dump trailer that has to seal but with this sand that just embeds in there so i gotta get in there and use my nose pickers to get all them crevices cleaned out otherwise the gates won't latch the right way that looks like frankie's here let's see what he's up to oh while we're walking down to see what frankie's doing our goal today is to get sand down to there i did try to get that dump trailer down there once and i sunk up to my axes and the reason we want sand down there is because the lake came up pulled out all the material and left me with a slew hole so we're gonna fix that but we're gonna try to get the sand down there oh you're already plywooding huh yeah nice to get them two or two up anyway but nothing can the wall can't tilt now so at the cabin frankie and i what we're doing in our spare time spare time is actually changing the pitch of the roof right now it's got a long low lean almost flat and minnesota flat roofs and heavy snow loads don't blend so well together we're completely switching it so we can get better snow shed so here this top-down view is a great example of how as i'm digging i can dig real deep the deeper i go i just gotta dig wider as i go but i can harvest a lot of material this way i've actually pulled five dump truck five dump trailer full loads of sand out of this hole so far and it just allows you this this way of digging just allows you to keep going i guess i don't know i just think it works great for what i'm doing and i also particularly like the fact that i'm not digging a hole down i'm allowing so if anything while i'm gone happens to fall into the hole it can walk out either side and then i'll come back and we'll bowl the whole thing so that it's not the side but i've got more sand to harvest and a camera to fix so i'm pulling the blacks dirt off from i don't want that mixed into the sand and i'm just skimming every load i'm skimming see that ramp climbing up that part can get tricky because it's real easy as you're skimming forward and you're scooping back up for the material to fluff off in front of you so that ramp can typically will be will get to be steeper than the back portion of the ramp so you'll see me actually get the ramp too steep i think it's right here come on come on she's maxed out right now guys oh i don't have it throttled all the way up but that was everything she had climb that hill push that sand lift that up that's not the end of the world or at least that's what lucy's telling me she's like you dummy made your ramp too steep so we're gonna dig that ramp out so we've got a nice take a little that ramp out nice ride all right now let's see if we can even this out a little bit [Music] lucy lucy you're fine [Music] that was one of the smaller loads of the day [Music] [Applause] [Music] lucy's doing a nice line up for the camera [Music] oh hey this is that old hoarders uh farm site right you guys wanted to know how frankie did on that thing he texted me a picture on the fine metals not that scrap but just the fine metals he carried with his pickup truck he made 3 500 bucks [Music] my neighbors irish wolfhounds love the sand pile they're just folks who's a good job guys all right you guys watch out cause i'm gonna be dumping you know it's soft sand you can't keep the dogs out of it i can't keep the grandkids out of it they love this stuff this actually is just amazing amazing material to work with oh this is kind of cool this trailer's got a remote yeah i don't have to be in it so i can come to the back and see what's going on and hit that remote button and it's like ah mine's my loadout my load clear no guessing just stand back and that's a big load you guys but that's what gravel roads in the back country let you do telescoping hoist you guys are gonna buy a dump trailer i highly recommend the telescoping hoist that's the one cylinder in the front there's the the dual cylinders underneath we actually did a test of all three of them side by each and this one by far outperformed the other ones the telescoping us we overloaded them and when i went down to texas to get this trailer we overloaded three trailers this one could lift 50 000 pounds almost it almost lifted 50 000 didn't quite i think it was at 44 46 000 somewhere in there maxed out we put 50 000 on the next step and that's when she did the crappie floppy the other two weren't even close the other two were at thirty six thousand and forty thousand all right next up we're gonna start loading up the gravely and bringing it down to the bottom i can't get the dump trailer down there she would get stuck i know because i tried once and it got buried that was a fun day all right guys but this video is for another day um and so i'm gonna start working on this one next i'm just going to give you a little sneak peek right here what we're doing with this thing and that's all we've got for you today's video god bless you guys hope you enjoyed it uh we will catch you on hopefully another one we'll see oh hit that subscribe button and the bell notification please and thank you and i'm on instagram as well my son reminded me to tell you that so that's it catch you later guys see ya
