Did you know concrete is the most used material in the world? ..#build #foundation #footing

What happens here

With the concrete roughly spread, workers proceed to screed the slab to achieve a precise level. This is done using a long, straight screed tool, which can be a metal beam or a straight piece of lumber. The screed is pulled across the top of the formwork, using the forms as guides. As it moves, it scrapes off any excess concrete, fills in low spots, and creates a flat, uniform surface at the desired elevation. This process also helps to consolidate the concrete, bringing aggregate down and removing some air pockets. For larger slabs, as seen in the video, this is a continuous operation with multiple passes.

Goal: Level the concrete to its finished grade

Tools and materials

  • Concrete Boots/Waders — Allowing workers to walk on wet concrete without sinking or leaving deep impressions
  • Concrete Screed — Leveling and consolidating the concrete surface
