oh this is the prototype jacob let me grab my camera yeah i'm already looking at it kind of drooling a little bit this isn't how you go down the road is it yes it is inside this box you can see the air controls oh look at that it's trailer week it's trailer week it's trailer week it's trailer week it's a whole week nothing but trailers we're gonna be looking at big trailers little trailers medium trailers trailers for skid steers trailers for anything you want to stick yourself into even you you can stick your wife in a trailer you can stick your kids in a trailer you can stick your dogs in a trailer you can stick whatever you want in a trailer because it's trailer week on the dirt monkey channel and right here is where it's all going to happen we're at nashville music city center and we're at the natda which i'm not really sure what it stands for but i think it's something like the national association of trailer dealers and i don't know what the other a stands for another association oh and we're gonna spend the entire week this week going and looking at all the different trailers that these guys have inside and here's the cool thing it's not open to the public but this is gonna be one fun week so you know what let's hop inside and let's start checking some stuff out [Music] there you go sir have a nice day you too thank you there he is good morning jacob how are you doing buddy it's good to see you man all right guys well we made it in and it's all thanks to this guy jacob with diamond see perfect he's the one that got us the bad yeah that's the badge yes so we got a lot this is a cool shoe i've never been here before i've i've heard about it for a couple of years it's just like trailer porn for guys right right yeah so the natda is kind of like the sema for the trailer industry like there's other name brands here we all bring our latest and best there's parts vendors here support to support our dealers it is a closed show so you got vip access but it's mainly for dealers only can you show us around what you got in your booth today this is the base trailer frame is the exact same as what you have pretty much like it's the lpx model but it has a variety of different options and this one same model but the differentiator this one has what we call the max whip package so it's taking an ad in this diamond plate you see and making the trailer 102 wide instead of only 82 wide so it has drive over fenders so say you've got a truck you need to load so here it is right here that's the difference you're extending out we used to call it frame extensions because it's literally extending the frame but it's the max width package so it allows you also you know if you need a haul a uh say a pallet side by side pallets or sod or rock or whatever it gives you the width to do so so and a lot of guys they don't really use it for the drive over fender functionality right you want it for the full width but they like the low profile oh but yeah those are there it's like cheap insurance it's there when you need it to drive over the fenders if you've got a wider truck or a water vehicle look at that all right so where this one gets interesting and the the prototoppiness of this one is in the rant so you were you were on the ramp you said this is new yes it is yeah it's it's one of the deals i'd spoke about it being still a prototype brought it for feedback yeah to see what dealers have to say because today you know we've always done this like your trailer the two individual max rams yeah this one we're calling the x-ramp is one full-width ramp which you know it's where no matter if it's something narrow or wide you've got a nice solid you know wide loading uh surface to come up so is this out it's not no this is not out like i said we brought it for feedback from deeters and we're looking to release it maybe in q1 of 2022 and at this point like right now if i pick up on it it's still a little bit heavy it's a little heavy to pick up on but it floats by itself but versus like the ramps you have i mean they're just a single very easy experience this one's still a little heavy let's look for a ramp this big how will it go down sure oh she doesn't she doesn't slam to the ground it's good it's just there's a little bit left all right a little tlc left to make it make it perfect that pretty well wraps up the lpa or big platform but what these two trailers are is next generation this is engineered beam 2.0 and what we're doing is it looks very similar but the uh like the molecular makeup of the steel and the yield strength of the material is much higher frame beam was grade 50 material now we've doubled the yield strength and now it's grade 100 and so it can take twice as much stress before it begins to deteriorate and just for to give you an idea mild steel regular mild steel is great 36. so not only were we already at 50 now we're at 100 almost three times higher than what regular mild steel is women are the other guys using mild steel in some of their trailers oh yeah yeah and don't get me wrong we still use mild steel in places but when you're talking about the integrity of the frame and really getting nitty-gritty and really building a engineered product to serve a purpose that's when we start getting into the grade 50 and the grade 100 and that that kind of stuff so but yeah pretty much everybody else uses grade 36 836 regular old steel so yeah every time i talk with you jacob i learned something new that i had zero clue about so i'm a firm believer that if it sounds too good to be true it probably is and when i heard jacob tell me that they use grade 100 steel and the critical components of the framework of their trailer and then nobody else is after i got done walking through jacob's booth at diamond see i went through every single trailer manufacturer's booth at the event because i figured if it was an important enough point and other companies were doing it they'd want to point that out and so over the course of the next week as we go from one venue to the next venue listen to here if you hear of anybody else using grade 100 steel in their trailers i just wanted to test if jacob was lying to us with this trailer every pound i can save is a pound of payload for the for the guy using the trailer well a very common misconception over the years is if when i had strength i just throw more steel in it just put more steel into it and there's a lot of manufacturers who still do that but the power to weight ratio gets way out there you're probably way more payload you know as you add that still yes it is stronger but that doesn't change with the axles and tires and all can carry the suspension and so you're still robbing you're robbing from the payload when you throw steel this is the hot shots dream this is a 40 foot long trailer rated at 40 000 pounds so it's very heavy duty 16k axles but on this one it has the 2.0 technology integrated just like the one we talked about but the cool thing about this we're debuting a new air ride suspension on this trailer it's got a brand called cush air ride suspension inside this box you can see the air controls and we've been working with kush for quite a while on developing the perfect the best air rod suspension that can be put under one of these and when you are pulling air out it gets you higher rates per mile like you get paid more because there's a lot of loads out there that you can't haul on standard spring suspension they have to have air ride and so it and it also there definitely makes it saves your back and wear and tear on your truck because it just floats behind the behind the truck it has a lift axle on the front standard which you can see that front tire is actually up off the ground right now that way you can run into tall roads you actually have less axles on the ground you get charged less and it's less wear and tear on tires and brakes oh yeah if you're empty pull that sucker up empty or lightly loaded even it has a dump valve where you can decompress your air springs like just pull that it goes down all the way where it gives you a better load angle it comes with a load gauge on here so uh you'll be able to tell how much load you actually have on the deck the cool thing that's also it has this air line and you can use this compressor set to air up anything that requires less than 120 psi so if you're on the side of the road and air on the tire or whatnot you can actually put an airline in here but also the neat part is save the system for some reason you lose battery power lose capacitor you can actually use this to fill up your air system so you pull up to a shop or a surface center and you're you're dead or you need air they can actually plug in here and put air into the system through this same battle get you back on get you back on the road get you out of a pickle so this one also has a water separator built in because it can air tanks they build condensation so as it comes through the system it collects the water isn't that cute yeah and then it's like a remote tank drain so you have to you have to uh drain your tanks because condensation built inside yeah so during their pre-trip every day these are all things that with other systems are they're things that the hot shotter or the consumer has to figure out how to do on their own whereas we're making it all one-stop shop here okay so as we were walking past i just looked down and i seen he's got jacob's got this actually on his so tell me about it you actually recommend that for sure yeah we have it as an option um and you know i've i've pulled quite a few goosenecks in my in my day and i really was a skeptic early on of how much difference could this hitch make but when you're talking about being in the seat day in and day out and using a good snack to make a living it it makes all the difference in the world your back and your suspension on your truck will thank you i mean it's just yeah there's no doubt when you have a metal coupler hooked to a metal ball in the back of your truck metal and metal that feathers pushing on your truck and there's not a lot of forgiveness there especially with the type of roads we have and the conch the brakes and the concrete and that kind of thing this airbag is adjustable psi you start out you know 10 15 psi up to 30 40 psi it doesn't take a lot it's a low pressure system but depending on the load you're going to pull you can adjust the air pressure in it to have more or less resistance and as that trailer pushes on the truck this bag absorbs the energy and it really makes it a whole lot better ride on you whoever's pulling it and wear and tear on the truck so shocker hitch has done a really good job this is our premium wood floor car hauler you've got your normal stake pocket kind of hole where you can use the two inch flat strap for tying down then you also have this kind of smiley is what i call it but it's made for the round rod uh straps yup that they use for tires and different things tire straps so you've got this you have this and it comes with four 360-degree d-rings as well i saw that you can see how the fender is is off and on the side you gain about four to five inches of clearance between the top of the tire where the fender is and where you can open your car door still so it's quick quick release fenders and latches we made this big nice wide step a standard feature just for easy on easy off access the tongue is a really unique uh feature of this trailer like on yours you like the big hd lid right in storage so what we've done is we've made a smaller version of it on this trailer to give you standard storage space where in most cases the tongue area has always been voiced area like nothing to do and like on yours you have this full area if you're going to the race track or whatnot and you need to put a generator or a little job box or whatever it is on there you've got that area that used to be void space that you can use so it's got a built-in winch mount if you need to you can put your winch on there and be able to load down equipment okay internet this is the other one this is the bro oh this is the prototype where it gets interesting is from here back it's got a air i mean a a gravity cushion tilt system so there's no powered hydraulics to have to worry about it's just gravity just body weight runs it back and forth but can you turn that down for the stanley the little yeah less to go wrong less to break simpler less to maintain that's got to be built like so precisely to get that kind of balance and you lock it in place and then once you get the car up you just flip it and the car slowly lowers up open all the time and just drive the car up and i mean but that's also a speed control valve so you can actually close it about halfway and it'll it'll even be slower so it controls how much fluid you can push back and forth to the reservoir so you can actually slow it down even more it's not ready yet it's not ready yet it's a prototype from here we're finding 22. okay we're just still responding some testing and stuff and so we locked the direction we're just not satisfied yet anything new in the dump trailers we can take a spin through it and i like how you guys have integrated the tarp system in the blender under the bulkhead are you kidding me being packed with awesome oh i've hit mine so many times but does this setup shorten up your box it's still 10 foot so i mean when we call it 10 foot it's still the length of the box okay so the reason i point that out the only reason i'm interrupting jake is we're finally talking about something i know so i'm like it's my turn to talk jacob come on let me have a turn right um so what he's done is he's actually taken the front of the box and he's added all this out in the front also is this a strong point or a weak point or is this a concern because i see your cylinders out in front of it instead of typically where it would be no it's not a it's not a weak point at all it's very well reinforced and as we may progress into the bigger trailers that you know it does get the material does get more reinforced stronger as we move up when you've got higher load capacities but i mean it's it's definitely stronger it's actually less stress on the dump body having the cylinder out front versus in the middle of it because when that if you have a scissor lift or twin cylinders like i mean lots of who've done them for years but they're trying to push the trailer apart to get started if that makes sense because they're in a bind when they're laying flat they're in a bottom trying to get going and if you've ever heard one that's why the pump is going to really get started versus one of these being out on the front it's pushing straight up the pump sounds almost the same no matter what load you have it just just takes off yeah and so it's much less stress on the body to have the cylinder up front okay so now we get into the big dog big change okay okay so as i'm let's like let's look at this we look at this frame right here and then six inch obviously okay six inch high beam on both of these and now we come over here though because it did in standard trim so this is a 18 000 pound package and the standard is 14. so it would use an eight inch iv structural beam like that but where we get into needing engineered vape is when we do the higher gvwr packages the eighteen thousand the twenty thousand the twenty four thousand is this an engineered one this is engineer crate xx2 is this kind of the same as the mvc it's still a 1.0 but it will it will integrate the 2.0 as time goes on so but again live and stronger and we do the engineered frame when we get into where it where it makes more sense you know the heavier gpwr packages so again this one's rated 18 000. it's a beast i can i can tell all right 32 inch sides with the board bracket seven gauge material instead of 10 gauge so it's even again thicker and it's a it's a battleship but a lightweight battleship yeah it's a a technologically advanced battle for them there was issues you know the little dump trailers they were just so dang tall they were hard they were they were hunky to work over the side where so when we came up with the low profile hobby we were able to inset the dump body frame and get the the deck hot down traditionally they were about 32 inch deck i didn't even notice that they're 24 inches all right there's a video jump on our youtube channel i don't know shameless plug but we have a store a video that's on the story of the original low profile jump trailer that my brother kind of gives the back story yeah so him and a couple of our designers were you know were instrumental in kind of changing the dump trailer market several other manufacturers jumped right on board later on and uh made their own versions yeah but uh but anyways it's it this has this has nice side walls yeah on it but you can still look you can still look inside that's so accessible so right here all the way over up and then wraps around is one sheet and then on this side is a second sheet and then in the dead middle they take a third sheet and put on top of it so that's how they do their floors that's a little different i challenge the man to tear it up all right you guys we got a lot more coming your way at trailer week on the dirt monkey channel and tomorrow's video we're going to be looking at all the gidgets gadgets the new innovations the things that make pulling your trailer that much more fun cool and accessible we're also going to be looking at some brand new things that i've never seen before new ramp systems new ways of loading utvs atvs on trucks and a ton of other stuff so make sure you guys hit that subscribe button and come back because we got a lot coming at you this week god bless you guys go get em hope you enjoyed today's video and hopefully we'll see you on another one
