1st of its kind. A Brush Mower with a Grapple.

now you don't run these times you don't run the gravel and the mower simultaneously so it's the same button but it's almost like a built-in safety switch there we go now he's in high flow right there good morning you guys let's hope for no adventures today because every time i say it let's hope for no adventures just want to get through the day doing what we got to do we're going to go pick up josh from stony ridge farms and then we're gonna head up to cmp attachments and pick up a brand new grapple attachment that i've worked two years trying to get my hands on and it's called i don't even know what the heck to call this thing it's a heavy duty brush mower it looks like a forestry head it's not a forestry head and it has a grapple attached to it so it's a brush bar with a grapple so what this basically allows you to do you guys is after you fell some trees down you can reach down and you can pick those trees up and move them to the side i think it's brilliant the guy that created it i don't know what he thinks of it so we're gonna go talk to him about it and find out maybe why he wasn't letting me have my hands on it all this time and then we're going to go test it out with josh from sunny ridge that's a busy day that's a lot of driving we're going to go from mini yeah well this is in minneapolis mendota heights to st cloud from saint cloud up to northern minnesota so let's get going all right you guys there it is the infamous mall of america is it infamous or famous i don't know whatever it's the mall of america and josh is staying at a pretty fancy hotel called the radisson blue now i don't think he would have picked that on his own it was picked for him [Music] josh happened to be in town for an event for toro and they put him in a pretty fancy hotel probably a little fancier than i would have thought he would have picked for himself but you know what let me just show you what i mean [Music] good morning guys this is andrew hey andrew hooked us up with the reason we're here toro is the reason we're here yeah yeah good morning josh good morning hey i'm gonna go show these guys the lobby real quick okay i i was telling them about the kind of the oh wait i want to find out yeah what did you think of it yeah it's fancy fancy do you have a shower did you have a shower or like a rain shower in there i'm guessing you were hitting your head up i was waiting i needed a fire hose like i'm a fire hose guys all right let's head in and check it out i'll show you what we're and then we got our little pods look at our little pods and then a fireplace that kicks out zero heat which i don't understand this like how'd you guys get so dirty why don't you take a shower once in a while all right we're here cmp attachments we got the asb but we got a new tool there's the man derek how you doing buddy good good good hey thanks for having us out again derrick josh hi josh derek so derek i was telling these guys that i've been trying for two years to get my hands on this and you're actually not a big fan of it and you invented it yeah i'm not um i actually did a this one i did a nice big food plot so i spent a lot of time in it myself and i know what it means it needs to it needs some uh work on it in my opinion you know like a chainsaw there's a bar in front of the chainsaw for the cutter and that kind of meters the cut right so like if you took that bar off the chain would just lock up and that's the thing with this that needs something to meter the cut if you don't it you can do it with the machine it's just too much work too much work for it so it'll slow it down it's too much work for the driver you're constantly adjusting yeah slowing down and speeding up where if you have a meter cut you can just drive into it and not worry about it so it won't stall out the drop well let's make sure we're running make sure that we got everything right on the asp yep all right i'll go get that unloaded right now so what you're gonna end up doing is figuring out which button is powering up holding this and then when you run this it will run the grapple okay when you release it and you run this that will run the drum oh so it's gonna get a little different a little learning curve yeah like it's different than how we would normally set it up but this is the one this is the one that i use for my okay bobcat all right redneck privacy fence shame on him so [Music] [Applause] [Music] so [Music] and this is the unique advantage that this setup has over other brush mower units that i've used after i've cut the brush down i can then incorporate it right back and fill it right into that soil and pulverize it into just organic material that can easily be reused by mother nature itself so when you see me actually grinding the teeth into the ground yeah i'm doing that on purpose it's not like accident what i'm trying to do is grind up everything that i cut down and incorporate it back into the soil it's almost like tilling the sticks right back and filling the roots and the vegetation all right back in so that's perfectly fine yeah kind of word of warning stay away from the front and the back and the back yeah and the back because it could eject it straight out the back it's going to fly just like a giant spear so so you're gonna see close-up action because this tripod we don't care if it gets hurt one thing i learned after watching josh master the brush mower was he's actually ran forestry heads before so this was nothing new to him all right so let's kind of walk you through some of the areas this is that slope that i just have no access down to it i'm thinking a ventrac or a steiner might be the right deal but for cleaning up up here where it's a little flatter area i don't technically need a forestry head i can get by with a brush mower [Music] but i do like this one i really legitimately like this one because it reminds me a lot of the the hydra bucket that we use and with that grapple let's see him he's gonna try to tackle that right there [Music] let's see how it does so [Music] [Applause] [Music] all right so let's be very straight right here this is where a forestry head would have decimated these fallen laws it would have just chewed them out up and shot what was left over out the back in one or two passes the brush had on the other hand this one took multiple passes to make these logs disappear that's what we're gonna do next we're gonna try a cinder block and then we're just gonna see what else we can throw at it and how it does do you want to take it away no you got it you got it all right it's yours to break all right time to break [Music] bound to be carbide teeth you see these this juice chipped a little bit that one's chipped a little bit and well these were these were gone this was gone already these were already worn a little bit so i think these teeth were pretty much toast before we started yeah because if he was if he's already been missing teeth and he's been playing with us at his property for the last year just experimenting with it he's been into that because you can see we've got teeth missing over there i don't see any fresh breaks at all yeah i see all i see is well maybe that's a fresh break right there is he's looking pretty shiny but i don't know i don't know man as soon as it hits the dirt once you can't really tell anymore yep it doesn't like carpet it hangs onto carpet maybe it likes carpet it's not a carpet muncher not a car [Music] so [Music] so [Applause] [Music] all right the difference the first three head would have been that done that in about 30 seconds you're not getting a porsche head you gotta brush more it looks like we sprung a leaker yeah yeah we gotta leave it's gotta be hard on the machine when it hits something and it just comes to that stop all of a sudden bigger heavier built than a regular grapple maybe you're [Music] made in the usa and that's what we got to say and that's all it is for
