What happens here
A white grain filler is applied to the top surfaces of the painted furniture piece using a small applicator pad. Grain filler is used to fill the pores of open-grain woods (like oak, which the original piece appears to be) to achieve a perfectly smooth, glass-like finish, especially important before a high-gloss topcoat. The filler is applied and then sanded smooth once dry, ensuring all grain imperfections are eliminated.
Goal: After the initial paint coat, a grain filler is applied to achieve an ultra-smooth surface by filling the natural pores of the wood, which is then sanded flat.
