What happens here

This project details the professional installation of a Tesla Wall Connector electric vehicle charger at a residential property. The process involves assessing the existing electrical panel, drilling an access hole through the exterior wall, running new 8-2 Romex wiring from the basement electrical panel to the exterior, securely mounting the Wall Connector, terminating the electrical wires within the charger and the main panel, and finally, testing the completed installation.

All right, come with me. Day in the life as a residential electrician installing a home car charger. So, first thing I do is I wake up, drive to the customer's house, get my tool bag out the van, and get ready for the job. So, for today's job, we're installing an electric vehicle charger, Tesla wall connector for a customer who just bought a brand new Tesla Model Y. And guys, I got to say, these Teslas are getting extremely popular. I'm telling you, I feel like everybody's getting one and not going to argue cuz these EVs are giving me so much business as an electrician. Boom. Bang. There you guys go. We got our hole made for the wire. We used a whole hog. The customer has a 100 amp main panel in their basement. So, we ran A2 ROMX wire in the basement and installed a 30 amp breaker for this Tesla charger since the customer had a 100 amp panel. Tesla wall connectors can be installed anywhere between a 15 amp breaker to a 60 amp breaker. But after we did a panel load calculation, we were able to only install a 30 amp breaker due to load and safety. I'm torquing my conductors, two hot wires and one ground wire. I taped the neutral wire black because this is a 240 volt EV charger. No neutrals needed. I put my heart out on because it was getting extremely sunny out and I didn't have a hat. So, I can't go wrong with more safety protection and PPE. And boom, we just finished. So, here's a recap. We installed a 30 amp double pole Seammen's breaker. Ran 15 ft of A2 ROMX wire directly hardwired to the Tesla charger. Job complete. Customer is satisfied. I put my tools away in celebration. That is what a day in the life of an electrician looks like.
