Darrell Waltrip's Time Capsule: 1971 GMC Hauler Packed FULL of NASCAR History (Museum Grade Stuff)

Watch on YouTube

What happens here

The video begins with the team setting up a yellow 'safety-kleen' branded pop-up tent and laying down a blue tarp adjacent to Darrell Waltrip's old, black 'Western Auto Racing' branded hauler. The presenter explains that they are back with 'The Garage Shop' guys to completely empty the DW truck, which is packed full of old NASCAR memorabilia. The goal is to go through everything, decide what to keep, what to discard, and what to return to Darrell. The initial unpacking through the side door (which was revealed in a previous video) had only shown a fraction of the contents.

Goal: Prepare the workspace for unpacking the hauler and understand the project scope.

Tools and materials

  • Blue Tarp — Protecting items from the ground and creating a clean sorting area
  • Darrell Waltrip's Race Hauler GMC — The primary source of the memorabilia to be unpacked
  • Pop-up Tent safety-kleen — Providing shade and a designated workspace for sorting
