dude. We got the best car here, dude. Yes. Yeah, it's not the fastest, but it might win best in show. Well, we're headed to the backyard 400. I have no idea what it's going to be like. We got the Harvard card all ready to rock. Freaking epic graphics figured out. Drive up went well. We're about to drive over to Travis's house, aka the racetrack, and see what this place looks like. This is like a pretty big thing here. Um, we got hay bells everywhere. This is intense. What is going on here? Uh, it's it's like Travis Bell's backyard circus. It's uh we've been here for 7 days setting up a backyard go-kart race. Everything here is a parody of what real life racing is, but we're all doing it safe and fun. And little cars look like Shriners, right? I hereby state that if I put my leg on backwards, you won't sue Travis. Okay. With enthusiasm. All right. If my leg is on backwards, I can walk in circles really good. So, this is this is the car here. What is Why did you pick this? I mean, when Arie and I were growing up, these were the radest things on the road. If you had one of these in high school, oh man, look out. Yeah. I mean, there may be children in their 20s here that may have been conceived in the back of a Cavalier, but that's not my business. But real world 2.8 Growly V6 horrible car. Probably the worst wheels ever picked, but a super rad car. And uh I've never seen a stack of this many people racing to win a Cavalere. If this was the coolest car when you went to high school, I'm glad I was born when I was born. This was big. How little that is. Yeah, this is like a cart path. They made it wider in some spots. This is almost like some freaking Mario cart stuff where you can like, "Oh, well, here's the passing spot and that's it." Then the rest of the time you just fall in line. I think they're running hot laps right now, which we should probably figure out how to do. Turn around and yell, "Damn, Dylan." [Music] We added bars and you know good tires and set the camber and caster and stuff so it look and you know has good brakes but and we got to figure out how to get my 6'5ness to fit in there. It's doing Mitchell things. All me is trying to make sure that my big feet fit under this hood and I can move the pedals forward. Well, it looks like you're fitting pretty well. Yeah. The problem was with the pedals where they were, we would have had to cut the body like a lot and lose these roof rails and it would really just kill the look of the car. So, and that'd be uncomfortable. So, like, nope, we're going to re-engineer this, move the pedals to be better, and that's what we're doing. Pretty proud of this here. I had the my old shoes sitting around, so I thought, huh, how can I mock this up? Do I still fit this in here? I thought, hm, I'll just put my shoes in there. Then I'll know if my toes fit. There we go. On the bright side, looks like all the guys that went hardcore are driving the Indie car bodies, which are in a different class. So, we can fight the best we can to win the stock car body class, but the overall win, um, we'll have to race those guys, and we don't know how fast they are yet. The one dude over there is the guys who set the cannonball run record twice, like with the Mercedes. that looked like a Honda and the Audi that looked like a Taurus. The dude's over there at the tower home. I think we don't have a tower home. We're going to do our best. Now, we got to set this tire pressure. I think Rob set around 20. I put 30 in them just to so we wouldn't have to air it up. We don't even have a real tire pressure gauge. We just have the one that's in the truck. So, whatever it says is what it says. All right, that works. Bro, you got to buckle me in like John Force here. Yeah, buckle me in. John Force is more uh buckled than this. You may not be the fastest, but you will have the most fun. This is absurd. This is stupid. This is great. It's cool. You could like scoot the seat back and like put the roof down. Where did you find this thing? Um, bought a go-kart for him and uh the guy asked if I wanted the body that goes with it. I knew nothing about it and then he brought it out and I was like, I got to cool. Yeah, this one fits you a lot better. Yeah, you should have made a little trailer so you could pull the other one around. It's already ass heavy. Like when I'm in it in the yard, it'll pull a wheel. So if I put any tail weight on it, tongue weight, I think it wouldn't turn at all. How do you feel about all this? I painted it and I picked the design. So, I'm good with it. Oh, here comes the van. Oh, he lost the tire. He didn't even make I thought he yelled started a fire. I thought so, too. I thought someone said fire. I was like, no, not the van. We can't lose that. He lost the tire. He lost the tire. Yeah. Oh. Oh, the body's off. I thought the wheel was falling off. It was just the body going Oh, we're about to go out to qualify. Feel weird putting this on to get in that, but you know, safety. Exactly. You never be too serious. Okay. You want me to go straight up there? Yeah. Mitchell is not very good with time management, so they've been calling him up and he's still headed up there. Hey, you want this side or that side? You want to see him coming around the corner? Yeah. Come on, Mitch. Stapleton Autoworks. Mitch Stapleton on the track from Morsville, North Carolina. So, I get one warm-up lap. One warm up lap and then go. Okay. Y, we did not make any hot laps. And we also finished the cart the day before at like 300 p.m. and then had to drive 10 hours. So, didn't get to drive this cart anywhere at all, more than up and down the road a couple times to make sure the chain wouldn't pop off. So, just kind of figuring out how to drive it and learning the track at the same time was uh fun to say the least, especially when the surface appears to be about 4 and 1/2 ft wide. Kind of wondering how this is going to go here. This is just my qualifying run right about now. I'm kind of wishing I had a bigger steering wheel or had time to mess with the geometry a little bit. So, uh, there was actually some movement in it. And right here, I learned the brakes are really, really good. So, if I step on them, it will lock up really quickly cuz it got the big like MCP race car brakes in the back axle. Very interesting. We put a really tall rear gear in it. Looking at the track thinking there's not a whole lot of turns, but didn't take into account how narrow it was and how bunched up um you're going to have to be on some of these turns. So, it was really bogged down. Wish we would have put uh put a shorter gear in it, but this this is what's going through my head right now is how the heck am I going to pass anybody on this track? This is like just it looks like it's going to be a disaster. I'm trying to figure out this turn here. the Widow Maker. That was pretty hard to carry momentum through. There's a big bump right in the apex. You can't really see on the GoPro, but some people uh had some major problems going through there. A couple guys flipped over. Actually, I got clips of that. We'll show you here. [Music] I guess this clip was from the night before when people are out there practicing cuz some of these guys have been there for a few days messing around and I don't even know how that happened. How's it going? How'd it feel? It's very touchy. This steering is like I moved my hands this much the whole track except for like the two turns. Huh. Very interesting. How'd I do? I think you did good. I have no idea. I guess we qualified 11th with That was my first time ever on the track. I did not do any hot laps at all. Yep. I mean, especially with coming in at 3:00 in the morning, getting just enough sleep. Everybody else got practice laps. First lap out there ever. 11th right in the middle of the field. Awesome. Love it. Best place to be. Going back to the garage, having the crew take it back so we can make some adjustments. Not really. We're not going to change anything. Don't need to do it. Over here in the stock car pen, we got Rusty Walrus. This cart looks like it's exactly the same as ours. Same frame. Must have come from the same place. And this one's Richard Petty. Also, same thing. Yeah, Midwestern Industries. That's what mine says. Mine's longer though. Glad we got a long one. Oh my god. It's Clyde Tol's Chicken Pit. Fastest chicken in the South. The good movie. That's hilarious. Oh, he even painted the tire letters on there. That's fantastic. That's my favorite one here. Look at the back. I'm going take a wild guess that you're the chicken pit guy. Yeah. You're Bert Reynolds today. Yeah. Well, I'm Bert Reynolds today. Yeah. I got the helmet. I got the goggles. You got the goggles. I got the goggles. You got to put them on. You got to put them on. Got to have the goggles. Oh, wow. He went all out. Yeah. Oh, you got real bubble goggles. The real bubble goggles. Yeah. All right. We got to keep an eye out for him to go. Yeah, this is this is fantastic, dude. We got the best car here, dude. Yes. Yeah, it's not the fastest, but it might win best in show. I don't know. Like, this is just for the sake of the whole ensemble. I really like the way ours looks, but I don't have bubble goggles. I'm telling you what, if I could have organized a feather suit, I would have totally been cool. Yeah. I got a kid in Kentucky who's got another T-Ird body and I'm trying to talk him out of it to uh to make the pluck chicken car too to kind of have them as a match set. Oh my god, that's great. Yeah, but it's it's not comfortable to drive. Is that like a work or like a lawnmower seat? Yeah, that's a tractor supply seat. And when I sit in this, it looks like uh 10 lbs of 5 lb box. So, you want to sit in it? Is there is there a process to get in? help me back out, but I'll help you again. Okay, we had to peel him out of there. Oh my god, it's miserable. Like my 10-year-old all day long, he can get in and out. No big deal. Hey, you know, he's going to school say, "My dad is the coolest dad ever." Yeah, there's a difference between 75 lb and 275 lb. He's going to tell all his friends his dad has a a chicken pit go-kart from Stroker Races. Kids are going to be like, "I don't know anything about that." Yeah, they have no idea. I watch dumb stuff like Peppa Pig and whatever kids watch nowadays. Cocaine. Yeah. That's the worst one. Oh yeah, that is legendary. Well, they're not quite all the way in there yet. Oh, you even got to lift them up. Yeah, I got to like twist twist. When I get out of mine, my shoes come off. So then I got to reach I got to reach back in there, get them out. So, you even painted the the letters on there and you used white ones, which is period correct. You did it right. Who did the My uh my my stencil for my my tires are on my box. Are you ready? Who did the wrap? A place called Bwrapped. They did a good job. Yeah, they did a really good job. This is fantastic. Where'd you find the bubble goggles? Uh eBay, believe it or not, didn't they stop making those? Yeah, those they haven't made those since like 1989. Wow. But they were in the box and everything, so it was amazing. I was like, "Yeah, that's a buy it now." I'm not even going to haggle. Nope. Not even going to hag. That's epic. Yeah, this had a a bar across the top, right? And I had to cut that out. creative use of the Autozone trim here. That's actually Damn, we should do that. Yeah, that's actually legit. That looks really awesome. Paid attention to small detail on that. Yeah, that looked good around the wheel wells and stuff. Why? Why Ninja Turtles? That was one of the the first four player video games that we played. And we all loved Ninja Turtles cartoon. So, this is based off the original Ninja Turtles cartoon and the arcade. So, you've got that nostalgia of it. And then I've been to arcades. Arcade Legacy Arcades. Great arcades to stop into. One's in Illinois, one's in Newport, uh, Kentucky, but ours. And then ours, Maxfield's arcade. So, this is a personal nostalgia fuel also. Okay. I like it. That's cool. I like the steering wheel. Yeah, that's very Nostalgic looking as well. And you got you got to think about vanilla ice. Go ninja. Go. Oh my god. Party foul. Another bug. Big dog. You picking up some poop? Was it a big one? No. Oh, that's good. He did not want that. But I don't care. Hey, man. And if your dog takes a dump right in front of me and I got a camera right next to me, I'm going to turn it on. It's price you pay. Boop somewhere else. Pulling out for the first Indie Car class heat race now. I really have no idea how this is going to go. The pace car is awesome. It's even got hub caps to look like factory wheels. He's They just went green. We're going to watch the the widow make the turn. See how this goes. got some vision changes now. Nacho Libre is up there lining guys up. I don't know what his deal is. I don't know. It says chaos. So he could be like Professor Chaos and South like Butters. Oh, that's a reference. I wouldn't know. But it's not tin foil, so I don't know. Here we go for heat two. We're checking out a different corner here. Kind of see where the people can pass at where they can't. Apparently you use straps over there. Oh. Oh, yeah. Good. Mr. Ray's car that wadded up. I don't know. Something stupid. Oh, he missed the main show. This is the second heat, too. The guy who splat out was a dude who talked mad crap on Facebook. Oh, the NASCAR Heating up next, so got to get the old fire suit on and get up there. Starting third. Should be interesting cuz it looks really hard to pass here. Please don't run into me. I said please don't run into me. Okay. Thank you. All right. So, here they come. This is the pace lap. They had to start double file, which was odd cuz we couldn't fit double file the whole way around the track just from this one little car here. And I was worried about a guy next to me uh hitting me because he had rolled the car before. So that's why I tried to play all Texas. Hey man, please don't hit me. But now I'm wondering how the heck am I going to pass this guy? He's just up there being all the way. I'm like, wow, my gear ratio is really bogging me out of these turns of having to, you know, trail break to not hit him. Good thing the devil works big and then the complete back and like oh great he's going to slip over and going to run him over. Please don't let that happen. Oh god. Michael Wall trip cart dude is getting way in front of me like a great lock the brakes up tall gear. He gets out in front of me just you know really struggling. How am I going to do this ethically? Pretty much like, okay, you can go through the dirt there a little bit. I don't know. Now I'm just kind of waiting. Gave him a little bump like, "Hey man, I'm going to pass you. Please get out of my way." Your head is already out of the loop. Oh Hey, the driver of flags out. That's what he gets. This is not going to work. Got no torque again. Now I'm like, this is only a fivelap heat, so I'm thinking I got to pass him freaking now or I'm never going to run down this other guy. Finally got around him. Now it's time to party. We got to catch back up and left his gear sink. When it gets up there, it freaking drifts. Like I think wide open this car probably do 70 mph. So, we got to run this guy down. Run out of time. [Music] We got He's way up there. I'm becoming concerned. So, where I would normally let off, I just freaking held it wide open and see what happens. Apparently, I made it. Made up a lot of ground right there. Don't know where I'm going to get him. He's pretty tight. He had modded his cart, so it handled pretty well. little shove myself up my expensive final, which I shouldn't have done, but I had to cuz it looks cool. There's biting me in the butt again off those turns. But I just got to hold it wide and drive it in hard to go through the dirt. And now this guy's in the way. Not going to let him hold me up, let somebody pass me. I'm just gonna do whatever I can to make sure no one catch me again. You're just going to drive around that guy in the turn. No problem. [Music] That was the last lap. This is the last lap right here. I know it looks pretty anticlimactic, but it felt like I was going 1,000 miles an hour when I drove off the car path into the grass there, and it was bouncing all over the place. I can barely see. It thinks the ride's so rough. The auto stabilization of the GoPro does a lot. It does not do this justice. Like, my arm was bruised, my left hip was bruised. It was, you know, I wish I had some kind of containment seat in there cuz my all my body weight was just going left the whole time. Nothing to really hold myself up besides that frame rail there. The guys just wouldn't get out of the way. The sitgo guy. Both of them. Yeah, I could pass both of them. The first guy was most in the way. The state guy. Yeah, I did bump him pretty hard. Did you see that? I got to know the story. What? Oh, why do you have that costume on? Like, what's I'm Captain Chaos. I am him. Don't you know who him is? I've really not watched South Park that much, so I don't know. South Park. See, no. I thought you were Nacho Libre. No, Libra, dude. Mitch Stapleton, somewhere in your library of VHS cassettes, you have the movie Cannonball Run. I've never seen it. Oh, turn the camera back at yourself and admit to the world that you have never seen the Cannonball Run. I have never seen a Cannonball Run. And you're within the presence of multiple Cannonball Run record holders. The two current Cannonball record holders are here. The Diesel Coast to Coast to Coast record holders here. Multiple record holders here. And Captain Chaos from the Transcon medevac is here. You have that ambulance, don't you? And then you can see the Transcon minivac, too. The minivac's out there. Oh, that's what that thing is. Okay. I wonder what those Logan's like. All right. All right. Go to YouTube. You You have an assignment tonight, citizen. You must watch the Cannonball Run and find it on Google. Okay. That is your assignment. Okay. We got to do some background. I don't know how. I've never seen that before. It's a Bert Reynolds flick. Okay. Do you know what a Lamborghini Counttosh is? Yes, I know what that is. Okay. The opening scene has a Lamborghini Countach. Yeah. Rocky had one in Rocky Ford, didn't he? Correct. Yes. You enjoy it. Yeah. I'll I'll have to look it up. Oh, well, I'm not afraid to admit what I don't know. I I have more fun thinking you're Nacho Libre, though. I have more fun thinking I'm Captain Chaos. Well, well, I know that. But once you've seen the movie, you'll know the truth, citizen. Okay, remember I saved that lady's dog, JJ. Man, I think Richard Petty burned up a clutch during the last chance race. Really bad. Yeah, it sounds brakes or clutch something. I think it's one of the Run guys, I think. Oh, really? Oh. OH, [Music] why is everybody breaking, man? It's super flimsy. Yeah, it is. That's the guy from New Zealand. What the he doing? He's pushing it across the line. So, his transponder Oh, COME ON. WHO'S IN SECOND? Who's going to bring it home in second? So, they inverted the field based on something I don't really know all that much about. We're starting 10th and we got this guy right behind us because if if they're behind you, they're faster than you. It's kind of how this works. So, this should be interesting. How long did it take you to do all this? Way too many hours. It seems like a lot. Are you guys ready? In the basement, folks. Make some noise for everybody that came down here today. We're about to go green for the feature event here. Starting intense. Really wondering how I'm going to get around all these guys that are way, way slower than I am. All right, court of public opinion. It's your job. Speak up in the comments. Watch the guy behind me. Is this okay to do? Look at that. Is there a difference between passing someone in the grass and…
