this chrissy idaho painter here on paint live tv today i'm going to be talking about the corner roller we're painting the bathroom right here perfect scenario where this thing actually works and works very well and it's going to save you some time and money painting so i've got ceilings going to be same paint the same colors of walls this corner roller is an awesome roller i'm going to show you how it's used right here so if you want to see the corner plus roller in action stay tuned for this video [Music] i'm gonna get ready to start painting so this is where the corner roller if you've never seen a corner roller the roller itself it's a nine inch roller only comes nine inch comes in a microfiber and polyester a lot of people ask me why polyester the polyester is a lot more durable than microfiber the microfiber is going to give you a better finish now here it is that's the roller close up look at the corner roller the um the fibers or the polyester is actually rolled over the corner of the roller so you can see you can't see through it it's um got a closed end right there that end right here you're going to load your roller up and the end with paint and i'm going to roll up here and now i'm not going to have to get up there and do my corners and fill in with a brush it's going to save me the time of rolling the walls and the ceilings and then having to go back and do all the cut ends i can almost get all the way into the corners i can get down the walls as as well as the ceiling so if you want to see this thing in action i'm going to start painting this bathroom here i'm going to do a little bit more masking and stop protecting but we're going to be um painting the floors the tile floors we're going to be painting those so i don't have to protect the floor 100 we're going to be painting the cabinets in here also and so i don't have to worry too much about protecting them as well but this is just white the whole bathroom is going to be white the ceiling's white wall's white and it's a matte white so we're going to get um get load and upper paint we're going to show you how to load up the corner roller a lot of people i would say a lot of people but i do get some people saying i can't load the thing up there's just a little bit of technique to loading it up and getting it to work properly i'm gonna run some tape along here so i'll get any splatter on my top of my trim with my paint here once again it's just we're just going to be using a pure pure white it's kind of one of the trends nowadays white walls white ceilings everywhere it gives a fresh clean look looks pretty amazing this is a product from ppg ultra last and since it's a bathroom customer wants it flat you want something that is really durable washable and moisture resistant so we chose ppg duralast for this project so here we go i'm gonna load up my roller show you loading it up so this time just i would typically load up a regular just nine inch roller but i do got to get paint on to the end of my roller also because that's this part's going to be doing some painting too so you can see that's getting loaded up i'm just going to roll the edge once you start painting you don't have to dip the end of it you'll like this nearly as often you can see the thing is loaded up rollers loaded up it's going to take a little bit to you know completely load the roller so i'm just going to roll it out get this thing loaded up before i start working on my ceilings if you try to do it now your roller's not 100 loaded up so here we go you can see just like that how it fills in the corner and the ceiling fills it in down about two inches just tap it on the end get some on the end of my roller and i want to just put a little bit of pressure on the end of the roller so it gets it down in the 90 degree corner nice and good so you can see now that whole section right there that just eliminated the need for me to come down the wall right here you can see i can get i got it all the way up to that corner 100 no need for cutting in it's going to take two coats even white on white it's typically always two coats you can see that corner roller working really well so part of the technique just every now and then somebody will say well it doesn't you know fill in the corners you've got to tap if you just rely on just load it like this it's not going to fill it tap it down in the paint load your roller up always practice good rolling practices and loading your roller and it's extremely important to not stretch it out you got to load it all the time not trying to stretch my paint out i'm trying to get a nice and heavy coat of paint on once again it comes in polyester so like on rough surfaces really rough you'd want to use a polyester roller they come in half inch and three quarters the microfiber only comes in one size it comes in half inch you can find it at paintlifesupply.com i'm just cruising right along here i'll show you again just see that thing fill in those corners nice and well absolutely saves a lot of time so not only is it going to save you your time from getting up on down the ladder you know doing those cut-ins it's going to save you energy so you know if you want to you know go work out at the end of the day like i do you want to conserve as much energy as you can climbing up and down ladders it wears your knees out it takes more energy more time so anything that saves time and energy is actually a good thing and the corner rollers were actually made by um a painter so a painter and he still is an active painter painting and so we like to help support other painters that invent really cool tools that make our life a lot easier easier so um it's an awesome tool you gotta another one of those must have must have tools right here so you got to make sure like there i didn't dip it in the end that time to make sure i dip it in get that thing good and loaded again this is going to got a really deep crevice right there just push a little bit harder this white i've used whites that's covered a lot better than this way before that's for sure but two coats two coats like we always say two coats we got a base coat now we've got our white top coat this is the corner plus roller right there four painters by painters awesome little roller microfiber or polyester if you've got any really cool tools you want to share with us leave it
