The stain, an oil-based penetrating product from Stain & Seal Experts, should be thoroughly stirred before use, as the pigments can settle over time. The presenter uses a drill attachment to mix the stain in its original bucket. For application, the stain is poured into a smaller, more manageable bucket. This particular product is a low VOC formula that meets requirements in all 50 US states and the UK, and it also boasts a high flash point (up to 500 degrees Fahrenheit, compared to 90 degrees for most other oil-based stains), significantly reducing the risk of spontaneous combustion.
