What happens here

This video features an electrician, Garrett Henderson from EVChargerFast, providing an overview of a commercial EV charging station installation project at a multi-family residential complex. He discusses the complexities of such projects, including the extensive planning, coordination with HOAs/COAs, load calculations, and the specific design for shared, dual-headed charging stations. The video highlights challenges encountered, such as cable management on sidewalks, and outlines the planned installation sites and power routing from the transformer to the main electrical gear.

What's going on, guys? It's Garrett. So, we're here. We're going to be installing uh commercial EV charging. Now, it's for a residential apartment complex, condominium complex, and uh there's certain things you have to do when you get involved in these HOAs, COAs. Okay? It takes a long time. I've been here over a year and uh it's a lot of leg work and sometimes it's not worth it. But this is a long-term customer that we have. And we're going to show you behind the scenes of what we're going to do, how we got our load calculation because it's not as easy in a multifamily as it is in a single family. Now, we're going to end up putting EV charging. Originally, we were going to put it in the grass here, but we ran we run into problems with people leaving the cables laying and blocking this sidewalk. All right. So, we're going to end up trenching and we're going to end up putting a charger here and then every other every two parking spaces. So, it's going to be a dual headed shared charging station. Believe it's um a charge point. I I have to say it's going to have two yo-yos to be able to charge. So, it's going to be one feed feeding two of the chargers. Now, if two cars are charging at the same time, they're going to split that. They're not going to get an individual feed. They're going to share the power feed. I'll get to that in a minute. But basically under here is the transformer in that little fenced in area right there. And the power goes underneath and goes into the main gear into the basement. And then we're going to come out and we're going to be putting in uh three chargers on this side and three chargers on that side. Now, the only reason I'm even doing this is because I it's a long-standing customer of mine. These are very difficult jobs to land. There's a lot of leg work involved, a lot of meetings involved, and sometimes it's not as profitable, but this job is profitable and uh I've been working on this for probably a year. So, be careful when you get the calls for places like this. Contact me if you get one of these calls and I'll help you. And uh it's time to get to work. So, it's Garrett Henderson. By the way, I love this hard hat. I love this Klein hard hat, man. Look at this. It's got lights on the front and the back. And I like it because when it runs out, I just take it off and I'll switch it. It's nice.
