Classic old tractor get's workout seeding new land!

What happens here

The spreader is a Tar River SSP-400 seed hopper attached to a Massey Ferguson 240 tractor via the Power Take-Off (PTO). The PTO lever engages the spinning mechanism that broadcasts the materials. The RPM (revolutions per minute) gauge on the tractor is marked with a red dot indicating the ideal range for the 540 PTO speed. The material flow rate is controlled by a chart on the spreader and a lever, set for 150 pounds of seed per acre at 6.5 miles per hour. Avoid overfilling the hopper on rough terrain to prevent spillage. For newly cleared land, it's recommended to leave the surface rough to retain moisture and improve germination, rather than smoothing it like a lawn.

Goal: Prepare the tractor and seed hopper for optimal spreading and select the correct application method.
