What happens here
Begin by creating a precise circular opening and a surrounding recess in a sacrificial piece of wood (or a template) using a hole saw and a compact router. A cordless drill with a hole saw attachment is used to cut the main circular hole, followed by a compact router to create a shallow, flush-fitting recess around the perimeter of the hole. A leaf blower is used to clear sawdust and debris from the work area. This process demonstrates the technique for integrating the wireless charger module flush into a surface.
Goal: Demonstrate the process of creating a flush-mount opening for the wireless charger module.
Tools and materials
- Compact Router HiKOKI — To create a shallow recess around the circular hole, allowing the charger to sit flush
- Cordless Drill DeWalt — To power the hole saw for cutting the main circular opening
- Hole Saw — To cut the initial large circular hole for the charger
- Leaf Blower DeWalt — To clear sawdust and debris from the work area
- Quick-Release Bar Clamps Jorgensen — To secure the wood block to the workbench during routing
- Wood Block — A sacrificial piece of wood used as a test piece or template
