Water Line & Frost-Proof Hydrant Installation
At 5:37 in
Can't believe I hit the darn thing and broke it! Underground work, digging and more!
What happens here
The man gets into the trench to dig deeper and prepare the bed for the 1 1/4 inch poly water pipe. He uses a pipe cutter to cut the poly pipe and a Milwaukee Heat Gun to soften the pipe for making connections. A Woodford hydrant is installed, which is frost-proof due to a weep hole that drains water when turned off. A custom-cut Lowe's bucket is placed around the hydrant base and filled with gravel to create the necessary drainage pit for the weep hole. Connections are made to the poly pipe using a plastic nipple (1 inch to 3/4 inch), an elbow, and two hose clamps (No. 16) per connection. He connects a T-fitting to the main poly pipe, then connects the hydrant assembly to the T-fitting, securing each connection with heat and clamps.
Goal: Install a frost-proof water supply point
