Buying a CHEAP Cat skid steer, sight unseen, online. Will it run in Minnesotas Winter? 4 k

it's a back what did you say Dave and if you flip it over then I don't have to buy it oh I got a gun with me so we'll make sure ever get the money one way or another these have you ever been in snow before Dave all right let's see if she'll fire all right you guys I'm not really sure what we're getting what I'm getting myself into with this one I bought a piece of heavy equipment sight unseen online and part of my ago she ating I ended up paying full price for the piece of equipment and even paying full price I still consider what I think I got a steal and it's almost too good to be true to be totally honest with you and part of my negotiations when I was buying this thing was that that the person I bought it from had to have it delivered from Mississippi where it was at up to Minnesota as part of the purchase price so I've never had a chance to see this you guys are gonna see this for the first time right along with me they delivered it out to my plow site late last night yeah I guess the delivery guy left Mississippi yesterday morning at the butt crack of dawn and got here late last night and so now we're gonna go out and see if she will fire up I'm gonna guess the southern belle coming to northern Minnesota is probably crying right about now and if this thing starts up it'll be a miracle but I don't know maybe she will we'll find out together let's go there now let's do it there it is I don't look too bad one more little more scratched up than I woulda guessed by alright let's go check it out see what we see what we got ourselves in do you think this will fire up probably it's it's 30 was it 24 degrees out right I know it feels warmer than that so let's find out all right you guys take a guess down below if you think it'll fire up yeah yeah I think heard that would be the way it is cuz uh we've never bought a machine that came from down south that could survive up here not once never in fact part of what I then this was my mistake I made a big mistake because I should have asked these guys to put a new battery in before they came up second but the one thing I did write the my saving grace is I did have them winterize the fuel system so because if it would freeze up before just driving okay well we could jump it but just by the looks of this battery it doesn't look like that's ever been changed out and I'm you know and I know that a battery that comes from Mississippi to here that's never been changed it's not gonna last one cold start I mean this is a nice day so we'll get that changed out then we got a will change out the OIRA let's take a closer look at what I got so I've never had to see it but you can see whoever owned this they just worked it and there's nothing wrong I mean some people just do that they work them and then they sell them I mean I'm guilty too this thing definitely needs a little TLC let's take a look around I guess the track is new and I had to ask so the machines got seven hundred forty seven hours I had to ask why the track was new and I guess they ran a log through it mmm but these gotta go Mississippi mud tracks don't work in Minnesota snow so those got to go hey yeah my understanding with Katt is they've got a single browser system in a triple grouser system the triple browser system is where you've got the one two one two three browsers and what this does is this helps keep your machine from popping off tracks when you're on side Hills the extra browsers grab onto the track so you don't cowboy out and cowboy out basically means you make a sharp turn and your trap slips off single browser systems will have that problem and we've had that problem many times are on the side of a hill so that's pretty cool how they've changed that design yeah that ratchet system you're using actually want to show it you guys something lavake makes us ratchet it's set and it's got this flat and you can actually put a wrench or a player's on that and turn it when you can't get a driver in that's what this flat side is made for it's kind of those little things make a big difference that's a really nice set and you know what people are like you're a Milwaukee fanboy Milwaukee's never paid me a dime in their life's ever but you can if you want to I'll take your money you got way more than I do I had your money I'd burn all mine so for you guys that don't know what you guys have seen Alex in my other video it's kind of nice I have a dude that's handy with tools I was telling him yesterday I've been doing this for 48 years wrenching and this kid comes in and he's only been around for 23 years and he's got more skills with tools than I do after 48 years I'm wearing twice your age and you're twice the mechanic I am I had a lot of beater trucks that's a good way to learn man some of you guys might get a kick out of this story I remember I was like 15 years old and my truck was broke down so I parked it in the Sun to change out the water pump cuz you know why I wanted to get a tan while I worked nine that was the biggest mistake I ever like nine hours later cooking in the Sun cuz I got my truck pulled apart and I can't get it out of the Sun I learned you don't ever Park in the Sun to get a tan while you work man you just don't do it those are two things that don't go together stupid things you do when you're a kid and make good stories all mud [Music] got it down Alex I'll grab it and carry it to the truck and get a new battery for it I'd be easier to do the bet the oil change without the battery in that shelters right there I'm pretty sure the oil and drain plug it's somebody so you got to pull that panel your oil filter yeah your oil filters not in a good spot there is a easier just to do it while we got the battery out you want to take the bottle - yeah how about the fuel filter I'm gonna run to Kat right now then I'm gonna grab the battery I'm gonna grab I'm gonna grab everything but I got it dude look at that look at that someday boys I want to run one of them some someday golly that's the ultimate we're here let's see if they have on hand everything I need this should be interesting so I placed an order about ten minutes ago we'll see what they got so here we go I need a block heater and for cat it's as simple as right there on the side of the engine so that's something that the average person can put him themselves right it's perfect all right cuz I might other one I couldn't put it we couldn't put it in they had to like remove part of the engine and it was another brand it was like it was fifteen hundred bucks to put in a block heater how much does that thing cost sixty nine twenty five for the heater element I'm starting to like this more and more do you have one on hand all right let's do it I go into cat 15 minutes later and come out with everything I need plus stuff I wouldn't imagine that they would have on hand kind of like the service here I just realized something I just spent four hundred and sixty dollars on a machine I don't even own yet oh well hopefully it works good cuz otherwise I'm out $460 and I'm the guy I'm the guy I'm buying it from is gonna have a new battery plug heater oil change fuel filters and be ready for the next day I divine I don't know all right before we go sticking everything back together I'm gonna fish out some of the mud I think this is where the that's where it is it's under there how thick is that much thickened super thick uh-huh four five inches thick hours on this machine they must have used it for demo you can see the the Knicks you can see this is bent in this this year's push back this looks like it got hit with something and pushed that in so uh I don't know if they were supposed to be something out here it looks like there was baby I haven't do a lot of can't stuff oh it's missing missing room the hose things here hold your hoses back this looks like it's been pretty beat up for that so my question to you is would you buy this machine it's a 2018 cat with a little over 700 hours and I paid $40,000 even for us a brand-new machine 2009 3-0 hours is $64,000 you just saved about 24 grand off a brand new one a little bit beat up yep holy crap look at the dirt Alex pulled out from the bottom there we're able to get the fuel filter off Alex filter oil filter so yeah did you get a new fuel filter yeah I don't think they've ever changed the oil on that do you as big mod seen in a long time do you think it's ever been changed what are those chunks as long as they're not metal I think dogs might have been in this pan before is there not a metal weird okay so at this point we don't own the machine but we've updated the oil a pure synthetic in it we've installed the block heater we put a brand new battery in it we've changed out and updated the fuel system as well let's hope it starts now you want me to prime this ring any better than this Alex we got everything else on alright let's see if she'll fire battery how could that battery be long we finally got her going fifth time was the charm [Music] we're gonna go put her through the paces for the first time so at first we wait is the battery kind of weak never been ran before but we determined it had to be something else hey Alex I'm gonna pop that before you take off I'm gonna pop the back up and make sure we're not leaking anything to get it to fire up to drive off from the trailer we ended up jumping it with one of the pickup trucks now I'm confident enough that we can get this cat to run the right way that I'm going to go ahead and buy it but I do want to run it through its paces first just to make sure that we don't have any mechanical issues and how the engine sounds and the drive trains pull and everything that else that should be working will be working right all right let's see your hockey run [Music] so right now we're just gonna run her through her paces we're just looking for any jerks hesitation odd sounds in the engine so Dave tell me a little bit about what this machine did well yeah [Music] did it do demolition because I'm looking at it and I'm going you know how does how does something like that get back how does ever be [Music] machine frame as well I mean uh so now you told me that there was a new track on this side and an old track I'd say this one's for my why zap wear and tear I mean it's only got 800 hours a tract like that should go a heck of a lot longer yeah we had a creek go through both sides okay to make trails in his woods to path back maybe lake behind ah the poppy so that's why we've got all these little micro scratches through all you know we got a lot of stuff like that going on what else do I need to know about this machine kids since I'm new to cat what is auto I domain once you sit there you know like when you stop if you have the throttle if the whole way you're gonna hear pull back down okay question for you and I don't know if you know the answer or not but on my other equipment when it disappointed bit a bit more beat up than what I thought it was gonna be but I got a heck of a bargain on it to tell you straight up I got it for eight hundred dollars less than what the guy owned it for not Dave his boss so you can't beat a deal like that and I got a question for you guys would you be interested in a video of buying versus leasing versus renting equipment tell me that in the comments down below because I'm buying this one I'm leasing another one and I've rented equipment and there's advantages to each one of them and the advantages are tax advantages which are huge but
