Building Addition Walls - INSANE Backyard Pt 5

What happens here

Once the walls are framed and properly braced, begin applying the sheathing. For this project, pressure-treated plywood sheets (4x8 feet) are used. Measure and cut the plywood as needed to fit the wall sections, making sure to align them properly with the studs. Since the walls are slightly taller than 8 feet, a small 'rip' (a narrow strip of plywood) is needed above the full sheets to cover the entire wall height. Nail the plywood sheets securely to the wall studs using a pneumatic nail gun. This sheathing provides structural rigidity to the framed walls.

Goal: Enclose the framed walls with sheathing for structural integrity.

Tools and materials

  • Circular Saw — Cutting plywood sheets and rips to size
  • Ladder Werner — Reaching higher sections of the walls
  • Pneumatic Nail Gun — Nailing sheathing to wall studs
  • Nails — Securing sheathing
  • Pressure-Treated Plywood — Exterior sheathing of the walls

it was about me no it wasn't what was it about you'll see in the video well we're ready to start sheathing this bad boy we have our walls up they're all braced they're nice and plum and we're doing pressure treated sheathing on this because we're going to basically be doing like a rain screen detail here we're going to have vertical battens that go over a weather barrier and then we're going to do horizontal deck boards so probably not super necessary but a little bit of extra protection and we always like that extra bit of insurance helps us sleep at night once we have the walls up and they're all braced and plumb the sheathing goes pretty quickly these are four by eight sheets and you can see we'll need a tiny rip above that full sheet because our walls are a little bit over eight feet tall [Music] three hit hammer challenge
