What happens here

A reliable water source is paramount for a healthy pond. Ponds can be fed by springs, creeks, or groundwater. A direct spring or creek flow ensures constant water turnover. For dug-out ponds, relying on a high water table (groundwater) can maintain water levels. Avoid simply digging a hole in a field without a natural water source, as it will become a stagnant pond. Pumping water from a well to fill a pond is generally not cost-effective or sustainable due to high electricity consumption and the large volume of water required, especially for a continuously flowing pond.

Goal: Secure a sustainable water source for the pond to prevent stagnation and maintain water levels.
