Build the perfect back yard chicken coop..fun project idea!! Easy to clean!!
What happens here
Inside the coop, wood shavings cover the pressure-treated floor. The presenter has installed a hanging feeder, held by a chain from the ceiling, which can be adjusted in height using a snap hook and chain links. This keeps the feed off the ground, preventing chickens from raking it out. Two roosting poles made from cedar logs are also installed. These are angled upwards to prevent chickens from roosting directly above the nesting boxes and creating a mess. The 'crown jewel' of the coop is a sliding door, which serves as the main entrance/exit for the chickens. This door is controlled by a rope and wire system from outside the coop, featuring a washer tab and hooks to secure it open or closed.
Goal: Optimize the interior space for feeding, roosting, and chicken access.
