Farm Vlog #8: Harvesting reclaimed Oak Barnwood.....Day 2 in the Coop.....A Political Rant??

hey guys this is Josh Darney rich farmer today we're going to be harvesting old barn wood we're going to my dad's farm which is probably 25 minutes away we had an old barn that my grandfather built back in the 1950s Barn fell down and we're gonna harvest the old oak planks off of that old barn possibly some logs off of it too but first we got to check on the chickens make sure they're doing ok since we introduce them to the new coop yesterday everybody's doing you guys look really good look they're sitting in their nesting box couldn't be happier with the outcome of the baby chicks back here doing great mother hen goat chicken is in the laying box we're gonna raise up the laying box and see if she's got an egg for us you know what while we're here we might as well take a little bit of time and open up the sliding door and let them come out be free dudes I've got the world's only chickens that are scared of light these chickens are scared of light oh so the waterer is out here so they're pretty much required to go out for the water and then in for the food it's okay girls oh look who's first Betsy Betsy made it out first well we don't have all day to play with the chicken so let's go get to work alright guys it's gonna get do the farm got to take the trailer today big load hopefully so guys while we're driving here I'm going to take a second to talk to you what I want to talk about is believing everything that you hear and see with the news media and on television this stuff that's on the news right now is pushing our country apart my thoughts are that our country right now is so disconnected from itself because of the news media that we're forgetting what it's all about enjoying our lives spending time together whether you're transgender whether you're gay whether you're straight whether you're a man a woman a Muslim guys why can't we just be together and be happy why do we have to put each other in categories to destroy one another the news media has programmed us as Americans we've been programmed by the news media to hate people that are different from us and that's not right take a second and think about that I encourage you to turn your TV off and turn your brain on turn your TV off and stop thinking that the world is crashing down around you and celebrate all the happiness in the world that is around you all I'm saying is it's okay for you to be different from everybody else just don't condemn those that are different from you and you'll be fine America's news media has got Americans trained to think that they're rats and they're all fighting for the same little piece of cheese but it's not the same piece of cheese the same piece of cheese that I want is not the piece of cheese that you want so enjoy your piece of cheese and I'll enjoy mine leave me alone and I'll leave you alone when you go shoving your attitudes up everybody else's but that's when the problems start just be yourself love yourself love other people and let them be different if they want to be alright guys so we're here here's the barn we're gonna start harvesting some of this old tin and some of these old oak boards this is gonna suck so my biggest concern is not getting a nail in my foot or in my arm so I had this idea I saw the barn that falling in and I caught my dad up and I said look it sure would be a shame to let all those oak boards go to waste so this old great wood here makes beautiful flooring we're gonna build a house eventually and I'd like to harvest this wood so we need to have something from my grandfather's barn in my house we're gonna get it harvested and store it on the farm and hopefully use it sometime when we build our house I may end up using some of this on the walls in my office once we get it set up to I got a 16-foot flatbed trailer and we're gonna fill the entire trailer up I feel like this is an amazing amount of old-growth Oh timber it's awesome I'm not sure if it's old-growth but it may be old-growth that's you know this kid this barn could be circa in 1940 this big boy it's awesome all right this board is if you guys know any way I can straighten this stuff out you know if it got crooked it can get straight so there's got to be a way leave me a comment if you know how to lay this board these boards out so that they'll straighten out over time still working on it I'll show you how much number we got so here it is guys here's all the lumber we got we've got some pavers that we're gonna put on top of this later on to help pack it down and we'll put the pavers around the chicken coop there at the house I've got quite a bit of lumber it's got a rustic old smell to it hopefully all this old bent up lumber will straighten itself out with a little bit of weight and a little bit of water on top of it so we'll let it rain on it and leave some heavy weight on there and maybe our boards will straighten out this is good stuff all right well guys we're headed back to the house good long hard day's work good to work with my dad for a little bit we also loaded up about a hundred patio stones that will be putting around the chicken coop which is pretty awesome I've got some old lumber we're me forget I've got to see if no chicken laid an egg in the new nesting box don't let me forget don't let me forget got me an egg baby so our next project is to put patio stones throughout here so that you don't have to step in the mud a thought on these patio stones is I'm gonna leave a little flower bed right here in front of the chicken coop so I can plant flowers but I'm gonna make a little walkway so we can get around the chicken coop here without so I think you kind of get the gist of what's going on here you'll see the after product later on in another video but I appreciate you
