Brian Keselowski’s Vintage Dodge Ram NASCAR Truck Resurrection! Reunited After 18 Years

What happens here

The truck's unique nose piece from the 2000 season is discussed. This nose, an evolution of a 1990s Pontiac lower nose, was developed by the team and Dodge engineers for improved aerodynamics. The process of recreating the original Mopar livery using a decal kit from a 1/24 scale model of the truck is explained.

Goal: Understand the unique aerodynamic features and the process of recreating the truck's livery.

Tools and materials

  • 1/24 scale model of the truck — Reference for decal recreation
  • Decal kit — To apply the historically accurate Mopar livery

nothing to do with that. And I think the guy drove it around a little bit. I don't really know where or what. I think it was just some shows or something. But there it sat for years and it was a mess. It was nasty. It had rat turts in the seats and just half inch of dirt on the thing. It was just about as nasty as you could imagine it could be. >> Some of these graphics are original. >> So everything but the Mopar graphics. The uh the contingencies are all original. The Mopar graphics were just put on here recently because we had taken them off a long time ago back when I sat in our showroom. But the big thing for us and for this series is they want the cars to be historically accurate for the library, right? So that's how they want it to look. This was about as close as we could get. The best way to recreate it is we bought a model off of eBay from the 2000 year and it had a decal pack in there and the decal guy actually was able to copy that and recreate the decals based off of that model. >> That's pretty cool. >> So that's how everything turned out. So, who's supposed to drive it now? What are you going to do with it? >> I guess it's going to be me. >> Oh, yeah. >> Yeah. I I didn't really want to do that. That was not the goal. I wanted to put it together and and go on the racetrack. I was hoping Brad would drive it and uh you know, there's some extenduating circumstances with the Dodge and the Ford stuff. He just didn't want to upset the Apple Card any. So, uh I guess I win the the prize. I get to do it. So, but uh we'll see how that works. I have to I put my seat in it. So, it's a big seat in the car and I haven't been racing in quite a while. I drove dad's land speed car about 3 4 years ago, but other than that, it's been 10 years plus. So, >> you're still probably more qualified than a lot of those guys that are there. So, >> I will say the last cup race I ran was at Watkins Glenn. So, at least there's that. You know, >> you're fresh. >> Yeah, fresh from two 2013. >> More than anything, my biggest concern, I just don't want to wreck it. >> Yeah. I just want to keep it clean and cuz you're not going to find body parts
