What happens here
Once all pavers are laid on both levels, sweep polymeric sand into all the joints between the pavers. Use a stiff-bristled broom to ensure the sand fills the joints completely. Then, compact the entire paver surface with a plate compactor. This vibrates the polymeric sand deep into the joints, making the surface more stable. After compaction, lightly mist the patio surface with water according to the polymeric sand manufacturer's instructions to activate the binding agents. This hardens the sand, locking the pavers in place, inhibiting weed growth, and deterring insects.
Goal: Stabilize all paver joints and lock the pavers in place.
