What happens here
Using ladders for access, prepare the house wall by carefully removing or cutting away a section of siding where the new ledger board will be attached. Insulation material, such as 'Tuff-R', may be visible underneath and should be trimmed neatly. Position the long, horizontal wooden ledger board against the exposed house framing. Secure the ledger board directly to the house's structural studs or rim joist using appropriate heavy-duty fasteners, such as lag screws or carriage bolts, ensuring a strong and safe connection. This board will support one side of the roof structure.
Goal: Secure the main horizontal support beam to the house structure
