What happens here

This project details the comprehensive renovation of an outdoor deck to include a modern outdoor kitchen and bar area, new landscaping, and a refaced dock. The construction involves building a robust frame using metal studs and 'Handy Bricks', installing composite decking for both the deck surface and the bar, integrating an invisible phone charger into the bar top, and adding stone veneer accents. The project also covers re-decking an existing dock and creating paver landscaping around the main deck.

here we have a seasoned Carpenter in his natural habitat watch as he constructs a frame for a kitchen with his bare hands oh [Music] all right so we're starting to assemble our outdoor kitchen what we've got is a combination of Handy bricks and some metal framing here so uh we decided to go this route on this one because going this route we're not going to need an insulated jacket around the grill so it's going to save about 700 bucks or so and uh it's pretty easy to do so uh we're just going to glue up these handy bricks we're going up three rows cuz it's 3T high and then we have our front uh which is the metal framing this way we can frame out a little bit easier for our uh access door you'll start to see it come together but uh we're using full hand bricks here we got a couple cuts to make so we can stagger our seams and it should go up super quick so uh once we get it all framed then we'll start putting some details together for it and you'll start seeing it come together [Music] all [Music] [Applause] [Music] Sean yes what are you doing all right we're always on the search for uh you know cool interesting things that we can do and I decided what's something that would be really cool to be in a bar top and that would be an invisible charger so what we're going to do uh come check it out here's what I've got uh this is a magnetic charger goes on to the the back of your phone just like that and it charges it so what I'm going to try to do is Route out as much as possible of our bar top material which is going to be this decorator's Costa so that this can be recessed just under the surface and hopefully it's not too thick where when we're done you can just lay your phone on top of the bar top and it's going to charge so I think it'd be really cool you know you always need to charge up those phones so uh simple enough if it works and we'll see I don't know so what I'm doing I'm making a jig for the router so I can get uh that nice Circle recessed cut in there and again we'll see if this works I don't know if it [Music] will did you get that yeah that was kind of cool it's going to take a little while to get all this material out but all good things hang on can you hand me this blower sure thank you all right and it looks like we're going to be ready here for another fold because our bar right there is going to Waterfall down the front of the deck uh it's I think going to be a cool visual kind of breakup of our skirting and it's just hey it's going to be cool so that's why we're doing it so this I think is the longest waterfall board that we've tried you can see it's like 8T in one dimension 10t in the other and uh we got one it's just what we do you know a how are you feeling about it good got one done got to do two more this Tes time all good things take time but we got a here Best In The Biz I told him everything about this miter fold game you did I did you know he's he's taken what I've taught him and he's wow he's grown with it the student has become the master or whatever exactly remember that one time I did uh I did those mitter folds on that build in bench and made like nine videos out of it oh yeah it was like the smallest little I found a way to make like nine Clips out of like six folded boards make like 10 Clips out of this charger thing oh I'm going I'm definitely going to be it oh eyes what I don't know the fumes oh I can't see right oh the 2p1 oh jeez oh that was aggressive do you need like water to no I'm good I got this that hurts did the glue get in your eye that glue didn't but the the fumes it heed it and then my eye like my eyes just started they felt like they were on fire you okay or do you need a second no I'm fine it's just I've never that's was just weird you're going to want to keep your eyes glued to this they are too soon all your miter folding supplies are going to be in our Amazon store link is below we got the 2p1 in there look at this guy he can't he can't break that apart and the router bit the VG Grove bit what you're going to need to uh create that Groove all right watch the tree let's do this can't even tell wow all right now we just see if it works nervous should be should be are really high right now I know all right so this is going to be our middle board is going to going to be a 7 and a qu so what we're going to do is have I'm going to cut this piece out and we're going to have our 7 and 1/4 come up and then we're going to we're going to stop it and we're going to have a vertical breaker board so I'm going to rip this to say like as skinny as I can like 3 and 1/2 or maybe four and it's going to go vertical like this so what we'll have here where the charger is it's going to be a piece cutting through like this that'll be like 4 in by 7 and A4 tall so basically it's the outline of a phone does that make sense I was just going to say drill a plug out and then put the plug with the with the grains going Crossways so then it's just like barely noticeable but you you know if you're looking for it you can find it but if you're not if you're from far away you're not going to know that that's there in the center of where it's going to go yeah like in the center of that just drill out a hole and then put a plug with the with the grain going the opposite way well there's like no material here we can maybe do a plug like here and here next to it yeah whatever I was thinking if you do the plug it'll be like barely noticeable yeah you can see it if you're looking for it but that's not a bad idea I'm pretty excited I'm pretty excited this actually uh this is going to work it's cool detail yeah it's an inch on both sides I think that would be good or should we start with just a square just do a square 7 and4 by 7 and A4 I mean I think aesthetically that to look good but I understand the whole process of you want to narrow down that piece so if like if it's 7 a you put your phone here it's not to where like if the piece is just we'll start at 7 and a qu so on like if it's thinner like it would be more a place to put your phone if we can we'll shrink it as we go test it out but I mean it's easy enough to line this up like I just put it in the middle here I'll play I make I don't know don't you guys got like a label maker make a sign like place in Center uh we did at one point it was on one of my manic uh organize the trailer put labels on everything I think the only labels that ended up getting made were uh quotes from The Wire I know there was one that said the king stay the king and you come at the king you best not miss wow pretty happy with it pretty cool [Music] heck yeah brother the idea here was that it it pops it pops think it looks cool what it does what it pops it really pops you know it's got that contrasting color and uh you know just breaks up some of the Kaya that we have everywhere and we're also running it in that different direction so it gives it that that nice depth to the design oh it's texture no it's going to be nice [Music] yeah I think that was nice just like that charger something I know yeah I'm not going to I just wanted to see where I'm at with this I'm going to this side next oh okay to put a couple screws in so I can make that cut gotcha so I can install this one y and then do my ratp gotcha okay I just wanted to see are you cool with this so I don't want to grab you again yep so just keep it keep it tight you can grab me anytime like tight tight no yeah we want the Gap cuz we want like the black to be like the all right uh we got our we got our our piece up here so and now I've got this which is uh going to hold it up there nice and tight once I get this piece in there if I can just oh is this going to be an issue have you made sure that uh that what that it works before you well I mean so this is this is the whole thing it's going to be oh God all right so this this might be a little difficult actually oh [Music] and then kind of loosely do it so it's not like going to hold you back or anything I don't think T that strong but like that yeah and then cuz that's going to have like a pressure fit so then at least it's holding it up there so your fingers aren't in the way oh God my arm's getting tired there you [Music] go all right see how long it takes to charge it's at 69 right now woo all right we got the deck 98% done now we got a a bunch of work around the outside of this uh starting with some landscape beds we're going to border this off really nicely and uh we'll get it going so let's go [Music] this dock which um you know they weren't sure what they wanted to do with but we decided especially after seeing the rest of the deck uh it's going to stick out like a sore thumb if we don't address it so we're just going to redek it it's in pretty good shape so uh ant's tightening it up he's putting in some midspan blocking we're putting some additional blocking for our borders to match the deck and then what we're going to do with this tape all the joist you can see you know very very minimal rot for how old it is so it's in good shape but we want to seal up all of those previous uh Fastener penetrations and lay our new deck and we'll be good to [Music] go good morning or afternoon whatever time of day you're seeing this maybe good evening but we're going to put the pavers in coming around the foundation or the outside of our deck so that we can put Plants and stuff in there but uh the hoses have been turned off and they have been winterized so we're using God SP it now and uh I'm mixing the cement Jose is setting and leveling the blocks as I could give him the cement fast enough well we're almost wrapped up here we got a couple more details finishing up some of the landscaping and landings on the outside but the deck is taking shape looks freaking awesome we got some Cafe switch and it's looking really sweet we've got the car top obviously all wrapped up got my phone charging right now last couple things that we need on this outdoor kitchen we're going to have the countertop coming in soon get the grill all set up and this one's going to be a wrap pretty soon so make sure you hit subscribe stay tuned and until next time this has been Premier outdoor
