What happens here

This DIY project details a practical method for removing a stubborn compression ferrule from a copper pipe without damaging the pipe. The technique involves carefully scoring the brass ferrule with a mini hacksaw and then using a screwdriver to break it off, allowing for the easy installation of a new angle stop valve. This is especially useful in tight spaces where traditional tools may not fit or be effective.

understand if you don't want to buy a specialty tool just to remove one feral. You could try to take it off with a pair of channel locks. Just kind of try to work that feral this way, but now that doesn't work. You could actually just take this and cut it off right behind the nut and that would leave you with enough pipe to put a new angle stop on without any issue. But if you didn't have the clearance back here, right, because this is a small tight space. Usually back behind a toilet or under a sink and you're not going to put a hacksaw in here. You just want to make a slit in this. Try not to damage the copper. Sawing just getting the brass. Let me grab my trusty six and one. Get down in this little crack right here. Break it out. Boom. So that's able to pop right off. Now you're able to move your old ring. You're able to slap your new stop on there and tighten her down. That's one of the many ways this little hacksaw helps me out.
