Best garage paint. Rodda Paint Review. Is Wall Pro Good Paint?

hey chris what can i help you with today so today i'm going to be uh reviewing rod a wall paint on doing an interior garage i'm going to be spraying i need a titan ata spray tip so if you've got any of those installed you do cool [Music] that's all you need today no that's just gonna be it just need one tip all right do you need a bag for it i don't need a bag at all all right you're good to go cool thank you very much [Music] can't you see you're perfect there's nobody like you there's nobody like you so i'm going to talk about this product rada um a product from rada called wall pro so i recently had the opportunity to use it and why i have the opportunity to use it i rarely have ever used anything from rada they're a local paint company a regional paint company but they're here local in boise idaho and uh what i typically paint with the inside of a garage which is typically just bare drywall that's fire taped we don't want to put anything expensive in a garage we're typically just using kind of like a mid-grade uh wall paint that doesn't you know require a primer and so due to the supply chain issues the shortages of raw materials a lot of the products that we're using you can't even get a hold of them right now and i went down the line uh the four products that you know the first product that i would typically use wasn't available um then i went down to the net the next one the next one the next one none of them were available so i eventually called this company rada and said do you have anything available to paint the inside of a garage that is reasonably priced and they recommended that i use wall pro and i paid i believe right around thirty dollars a gallon for it i think that that's not two i think about 32 or 33 that's not too bad for you know painting a garage i wanted something around the 20 range 25 range but hey you know you just take what you can get you know when it comes to painting the garage so this was the product and i'm gonna talk a little bit about you know the performance of it talk a little bit about the price but i'll let you know what i think of it and how it performed all right now i'm just going to give you a little bit of the stats on the the product um on the tds sheet but i do have the the bucket um kind of leftover paint that i had it says apply two coats over properly prepared surfaces coverage to 430 square feet that's quite a bit dry to the touch in two to four hours that's pretty average uh try to recoat 12 to 48 hours that's extremely long um i don't think i would probably wait that long to recoat it on the garage that i did i just sprayed one coat it does say you can also airless spray it 2 000 psi it's a tip size of a 15 to a 19 easy cleanup it's a water-based product and vocs are pretty dang low vocs 0.5 gallons per liter if that means anything to you it's an interior paint high high build high production or production paint so it says it's got exceptional hide and touch up exceptional coverage splatter resistant easy application and cleanup virtually no odor during application so um is any of that true i'm gonna let you know so now just on to my experiences with uh painting the product so i did spray i did brush and i did roll the product and i'll just talk uh first off about spraying the product i sprayed using a fine finish tip a 310 a 510 that i used a 5 15 and a 5 17. i used multiple tips so i tested across the board it sprayed through all those tips now spraying i got say um the first thing you know i'm gonna want in a product like this on a garage is i'm gonna want a product that covers very well i gotta say it covered amazingly or exceptionally well it's kind of a um a light tan you know color and we were just going over um bare drywall that's had a bunch of patches and so the drywall was extremely yellowed because the home was like 20 to 30 years old so it had a cover over a multitude of different surfaces it had a lot of varying surfaces like fire tape patches and stuff like that so i do got to say it covered extremely well and the sheen across the entire garage was exceptional it didn't have any flashing it didn't have any dull or heavy or um shiner spots on it so talk a little bit about the sheen it's got a satin sheen which is a gloss level too i'd say it was a true satin from my experience now when spraying it i it covered very well and then the sheen across the the garage because we had a lot of different services we had patches we had fire tape and we had a variant different drywall new drywall old drywall after spraying one coat it had a nice even sheen across the entire garage it hung extremely well when i do garages i spray one coat and i'm done and out of there because it's just we're just trying to get color get paint on the wall this is not the inside of the house it is just a garage and most people want their garages just painted and painted affordably just so they look nice when um you know you pull into the garage they're not trying to achieve you know a high level finish like they would the inside the house but the the finish across the board it was amazing i didn't prime it i didn't use the pva primer i just used this product right over the drywall and once again it um i put on a super heavy coat and once it dried out it had a nice even sheen across the entire garage across all surfaces so talk a little bit about the spraying you know when i was spraying it you know when you start to get into lower grade paints they typically don't cover very well this one covered well but then they typically have a lot of overspray a lot of splatter and don't hang very well i gotta say the overspray it wasn't super low but i didn't have i threw some drop cloths down some masking down there was some areas that didn't have drop drop cloths because it was a large garage when we picked everything up because we were spraying walls and ceilings anything that landed on the floor didn't land as wet paint it just all swept up and blew up out of the garage so i'm going to say the overspray you know was um acceptable when it comes to the product itself and especially for the price that it was so it does say you know on the can i'll talk about it says virtually no odor during application we did spray it um it was extremely cold outside we couldn't open the garage door so i was spraying in this garage with no ventilation at all and i do gotta say it was virtually almost no odor at all so that that's definitely true um and i was definitely thankful that i didn't have a strong odor that i wasn't breathing i was wearing a respirator but when i would take it off you still didn't smell like um a lot of these chemicals that are in exterior paints that can give you a headache and it just kind of make you sick when you're in an enclosed space so i did i did brush and roll so i did when i do a garage i'm typically going to spray the bulk of it but around the garage doors in some areas we are brushing and rolling with a brush and a four inch roller and very little splatter which was pretty impressive with the paint it didn't splatter just like it says and it didn't hide as well when i brushed and rolled it as when i sprayed so i'd say that was kind of the hidability was just average when it comes to brushing and rolling it so one thing i do also want to talk about it does say it is a production paint so this is a production type paint that's probably not going to have you know as much scrubbability durability um scuff resistance as your higher end interior paints is probably why you know it's good for maybe new construction homes or garages and stuff like that would i want to use something like this on a repay inside somebody's house no i would probably step into a higher end paint but once again a production paint for new construction or garages i think it's going to perform you know very well for you so it does touch on on the top it does say it touches up or it says exceptional hide and touch up and i'll talk a little bit about the touch up because i did go back and have to touch up some areas after i got done spraying that's very typical and everywhere i did touch up you couldn't actually see the touch-ups at all and that's pretty dang impressive for a paint like this the color lends itself to touching up very well so um but once again i gotta say uh i was impressed on how well it touched up so i'll touch a little bit on a dry time so it was extremely cold inside this garage i mean it's probably like in the the 50s and for an interior paint i would have thought that's going to be a big problem with it drying and it actually did dry you know fairly quickly and i would say by the time we left you know most of the garage was dry we came back the next day it was all dry did touch-ups and it looked absolutely amazing all right so i'll give you my final verdict on rada wall pro so is it a product i would use i i would use it again if i had another garage to do i think the price was you know pretty fair i think it performed exceptionally well for a garage and i don't do a lot of them but i occasionally buy two three four garages a year um that we do do and it's um it's a great product it's sprayed exceptionally well if i had to um roll the entire garage it might not be the best product for rolling but i'll tell you what it does spray well it touches up well and typically in garages you're um limited on you know your ability to ventilate and this the odor was very pleasant so it definitely is a product you know that i would recommend you use if it's available to you and it's not available over the united states but it is available you know in our region once again it is a regional product um rada wall pro give it a try
