with NASCAR. How's it look, Mr. Official? So far, so good. You got to keep an eye out when they unveil these things? >> Oh, yeah. Okay. Yeah, no cheating. All right, very cool. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, you got you got you got you got the VIP. That's a That's a VIP. Where you What you have access to with your passes I mean, you got hundreds of thousands of people 250,000 people don't have what you have. You know what I mean? You guys got this as well. We're going to go behind the scenes to dry in the track right now. Yeah. So, you hear that loud sound? That's them drying the track. We had some rain. And guys, we're going to go see what most people don't get to see, right? >> Correct. It's going to be an epic day, so let's get this thing going. This was an insane day. Have you guys ever had like one of those days in your life where you just you'll never forget it. It was an experience unlike anything you've ever done before. And it you know that what happened during that day will always live with you onward and upward from that point forward. That was this day, and luckily, I brought the camera with and I recorded everything. Now, I was sent into the pits by Sunfire. They didn't ask me to record anything, but I did anyway, and I am so glad I did, and I'm bringing you guys along with me. Let's just get into this one today. That car got totally destroyed. We're not even one lap in. What are they going to do with that thing? I think they're going to try to put it back together and keep it running. There's another one They were one lap in, and two cars smacked together, and they decided they were going to duct tape both of these cars back together and put them out on the track. Let's watch it. We're not even a lap into this thing yet. So, we had to actually go through the owners' gate, like the owners of the cars. >> You do There's other ways to get in, but that was the easiest way to get you up here. So, all along there, that's the pit. Goes all the way down. Joey, nice to meet you. Joey's the driver. Joey's not just a driver, he actually owns two race cars. So, he's the driver and owner operator. Take pictures of the car and do that kind of stuff, then when they go out on the track, uh we can also afford the introduction, right? We can also So, before the cars are impounded now, we had tech yesterday and qualifying, and they impound the cars so nobody can mess with them, like us included. So, but then at 1:15 or so, they do uh engine prime and final adjustments. That's when they open the doors and you guys You guys can actually see the car from out here. And then when it's driver introductions, the cars are staged out on pit road. You guys can get it right up to the car and take as many pictures and everything as you want. Stand next to the car for the national anthem and all that stuff. Joey, how long have you been driving? Uh long time. I've been racing go-karts since I was eight, full-size cars since I was 14, and then this series since I was 18. How old are you? Uh 33. Can I ask you another question? >> Sure. What has been your scariest moment, period, driving? Behind the wheel. I don't care if it's racing or even going back to the go-kart days. Like, give me your scariest moment. >> our hub broke at Vegas in the cup race. The hub broke, so the whole left rear tire just flew off, so I had no control and rode the wall backwards like a skateboard and almost flipped over backwards. But everything happens so fast, you don't even think about it. And we try not to think about it, FYI. So, we love questions like that. All right, you guys, we're going to take the first peek at Joey's car. He hasn't even been able to see this thing because he's been He's not allowed in. Excuse me, excuse me. Right before the race starts, the official comes in, and no one is allowed to film as they lift up the hood. This is the first looks at this, and the reason no one is allowed to film is because it's proprietary information, and every racer does certain things to their engine that they just don't want out there to the rest of the racers out there, and it's their own special tweaks and things like that. And the official has to watch as this hood is opened up and unveiled to make sure that everything is copacetic, but no one had told me any of this. So, let's go film the official and film the engine. Completely by accident. This could have gotten me immediately kicked out of the race right then and there, and I had no clue. No clue. And we're going to be in the pit here in a minute, you guys. So, we're going behind behind the scenes with NASCAR. How's it look, Mr. Official? So far, so good. You got to keep an eye out when they unveil these things? >> Oh, yeah. Okay. Yeah, no cheating. All right, very cool. We're going to go around and check it out some more. All right, you guys, I'm going to take you into the pits, so stay tuned today. Stay tuned. It's going to be good. And if you're watching on YouTube, I'm filming live. How's that, Stogie? Well, I just chew on it, but it's honey wrapper. All I taste is honey all day long. I Well, I watched you before, and you were just chewing on I'm like, that thing ain't even lit. Yeah, oh no, if I lit it, I'd pass out. >> [laughter] >> Hey, you too. This is so surreal. Crap, I felt some raindrops. >> I got a few. I'm hoping it holds out. Scattered. Hey, can I ask you a question? What do you do with these guys? I don't do anything. Those are the only words that guy ever said to me the entire time I was there, and I was sitting right behind him, breathing down his neck the entire race. I love this rumble. It just hits you in the chest. Yeah, it's everything good about America. pits. These guys are in These guys totally wiped out. That tire is beat up. Oh, yeah. It's super good. >> What did you do that for? So we can get tire depth. I take a depth before the tire before we you can put them on the car and then I see where we're how much wear we're getting. Put a GoPro up there? What's that? Is that a mount for a GoPro on your helmet? >> Yeah. Doing adjustment. Adjust adjust the car. Oh, it's an adjust. Oh, that's what it's for. Yeah, pretty badass. That is so cool. Flat over here. It's only flat on the bottom. Yeah, we're going to we're going to come in this way. Huh? I'll scale back there. I did. Sorry, man. Yeah, I asked you once before already. >> Oh, I didn't hear I didn't hear you. Yes. Oh, I'm sorry. >> You're in the middle of the media. This is media only. I am media. But you don't have a media pass. Oh, I need to get that pass. Okay. Okay. Sorry, man. He never asked me before, but I'll get out of this way. He did not ask me before. I can guarantee you I never seen that guy before. How do you feel, Joey? I'm good. Yeah, you did great. 19th, right? Yeah. That's a good move up. Car's looking pretty good. He went from 38th place to 19th place. So that's a pretty good move up and his car was looking good, but not everybody's car was looking so hot. So let's just check out how some of these other rigs lasted throughout this race. He finished the race. He finished the race. This was the car they duct taped together in the very first lap. And it made it. It made it through. Unreal. Can't believe it made it through. Look at this duct tape job. Now that's what you call duct tape. That is crazy destroyed. O- okay, so if you're caught shooting something you're not supposed to shoot, what happens, John? You get thrown out of the thrown out of the raceway. But you can't show the engine. You can't show the front of the >> the engine. You can't show the bottom of the car. You can't look under the hood. E- even all the accredited media personnel are not allowed to look at the engine or underneath because that's the only area that could be trade secrets. So when they opened up that hood and I walked right up and I talked to the official. And then I I shot into the hood. That was what I was not supposed to do? Correct. Y- yeah. But you got it you got it. >> Had no idea. [laughter] Well, you know, it's kind of like ignorance is bliss. >> And Scott's over there shaking his head listening to I looked at Instagram earlier and I was like, there's the engine but Oh, you seen it on you seen it on Instagram? Here here's the video I took going I actually talked to the to the pit guy. Right here. When they're unveiling and opening it up. Y- yeah. Wow. Yeah. Hey, that's a great shot. Here here's the here's the official. Oh, he's smiling. >> Oh, yeah. Yep. I'm BSing with him. There's the engine. Wow. We're going to go around and check it out some more. That's what you're not supposed to show. Yeah. All right. All right. All right, you guys. We're going to Joey's all done with the race. He did great. What a fun day. I hope I hope you guys had a great time going behind the scenes and checking everything out.
