What happens here
It should have been simple. But nothing is easy with Old equipment. We have to put the TLB away. Which means driving it 7 miles down the road. But 1st Its DOA, then Fuel problems, then a hose ruptures, then another & then a CATASTROPHIC Blowout at the end.

(19,997 characters)good morning you guys we've got a day ahead of us we got to get the black hole fired up for the first time and how many months has it been october november december january february march first time in five months it's out on our snow plowing site and it's one of the pieces of equipment that we just parked there to keep in case something else doesn't run we've got a backup that should fire up but when they haven't been fired up in as long as this one has it it could be interesting so let's just go see what happens we gotta go put it to bed the weather's changing it's starting to spring is starting to sprung and we got to get mobilized from our plow sites back to our yard so we're going to do the black hole today let's just dive into it see our first problem blacco's got a slow leaker on the front alex actually came out here last week and he's like this isn't gonna work he took the milwaukee little tiny battery air charger because it was almost flat and uh it actually filled up that tire so i think we're gonna recruit that thing back and get it over here because we don't have power out here there's no electricity anywhere over in this neck of the woods but uh let's just see if we can get her running before we worry about a tire okay this might be way too high a hopes let's just see oh god it smells like dead mice in here all right let's just see if she'll turn over oh she really smells like that nice oh nothing i mean we got nothing this thing ain't even thinking about running this could get more interesting than we originally anticipated all right the batteries in here let's pop that off and see what we got cooking i planned ahead real well i brought one tool that's high hopes man that's high hopes hey question honestly what is your favorite mechanics tool set i need to know who makes really good mechanics tools okay let's do the first thing let's just put a jumper on it and see if she'll even pop from there it gets time for an industrial strength size pair of jumper cables look at this oh my gosh look at this you guys you think they put a little salt on this lot that's from the truck going by and just casting salt into the lot that's how much my bucket has collected this might not do it i might need to get a new battery all right i got the truck on let's just go see if we can even get any juice wait oh she's alive let's see if she fires oh the fan is on full bore so we're getting a lot better with that mouse nest now let's let's see if we got any nope this might take a bit on an earlier video i was talking about glow plugs this is one of those ones where if you flip the switch this way the glow plug light comes on but back to normal nothing or you can do it this way so you can manually run the glow plugs when you need to like that and i like that can one of you guys explain glow plugs better than i can because i i just think they're like a little tiny mini heater inside of the i don't even know how to explain it maybe one of you guys can explain it because i think mira was asking about it she ain't hiring this thing this ain't going nowhere all right you guys let's give it a minute and see what we can get to happen oh man this thing is net that's like mouse droppings oh god looks like oh that's why it stinks so bad this whole top has to come down that's all got to be just filled with mice nice to the worst thing i had a mouse so here's an interesting story lisa i think it's interesting it's a five thousand dollar story um back in the day when we were running all these different excavators tim had his excavator and he got in the habit of eating wow what are those sesame seeds or not sesame seed sunflower seeds right and he'd leave bags of sunflower seeds here there'd be shells there and it was just like a magnet to the mice and we parked the excavator for the season didn't think of getting all that crap out of it and the mice just went into that machine and chewed every wire out of it i had to rewire the whole machine that's why it was a five thousand dollar lesson but we got we may have to do something different here because i don't know if this one's gonna fire i think that battery may be too far gone i don't i don't have a jump pack so i think what we're gonna do is just stick a new battery in it for now and uh get this machine where she's got to go this battery's so dead i'm just worried about it even running i don't know if the alternator would be able to keep up with it if there's zero juice in that battery so let's pop the battery out and let's get going on plan b well like i said i brought one tool because hey i'm well prepared let's just see if i brought the right one tool the universal plumbers players are doing it oh fungus they put them on like they meant it didn't they rust weld is a very weak very real thing right i think she might be rust welded shoot balls i like running equipment a lot more than working on it but they go hand in hand i've had operators come in they're like like okay go air up the tire or something like that and they look at you like oh i'm above that it's like no you ain't jack this ain't no big large union shop man if you can't grab a pliers and do a job that needs to be done you best move on you best move on there ain't no i can't do that kind of attitude around here that's for sure all right here we go off this doesn't look too bad in here and that wood is actually pretty cool hey some of you guys seen frankie paint this black when we did it this was the part that he used a special kind of tape on it's been a year two years look at that that's pretty cool i don't care who you are people are like oh that's so cheap you did it that way well it's a backhoe that spends 99 of its life parked in one spot we only use it for back up to back up sometimes you don't need to invest a lot of money into something like that you just need it to look decent from 40 feet that's why i call this a 40-foot paint job as long as you stand back about here she don't look that bad i mean it looked a lot worse trust me in some of you like it still looks terrible don't drive it oh don't get that battery juice on you oh how you doing i need that one and you can keep that too sure one all right i don't care it's like a one-time use i just gotta get the backhoe running and then i'll probably pop it out and return it let's go see if she'll fire up now yes they're different on the battery i gave you so like the positive and negative are in different sides of the battery oh oh oh oh oh okay okay okay oh yeah yeah yeah no so i just gotta spin it around inside the yeah if you spin it around it shouldn't be an issue i'm just making sure that you can do that in that uh whatever application you're putting it in oh yeah we're on the same page yep yeah that shouldn't be an over like i said i'm 10 minutes away if it's a problem i'll just bring it right back and we'll get one that fits better all right cool all right i'm just making sure it goes smoothly all right thanks ray but dude that was the batteries plus guy calling me while i'm on the road to make sure that the battery polarity that's cool dude that's not customer service you see every huh because i called just to get the phone number for hey how did he know so he had my number because i called this morning just to see if they were open [Music] and he must have just backtracked that phone number that's pretty cool just to make sure that my my battery would fit the right way you guys see all that white up on top of that wall i didn't build this wall but what's going on is the block is called effort vesting and that's where some of the minerals are leaching out of the retaining wall the weird thing is on that one it's consistent and it's all up at the top which means that there must be more water penetration at the top of that wall then lower down and so as the water is penetrating and coming through the wall it's taking some of the minerals with it and staining the wall and it it happens it also kind of tells you where your water issues are if you've got water issues so to speak but a lot of people wonder why do some walls have that discoloration and that's what that's for i mean not four but that's what it's caused by is effort vessing minerals leeching out of the actual mix of the block but guess what we're back let's get the black hole running let's make that our goal run baby run right so ray called and what he said is these terminals are switched around and wanted to know if we had room inside there let's find out if this thing will fit i don't know but i think she'll go here we come on plenty of room nothing like having a battery rubbing right up against the radiator for getting battery acid on one of the more vital components of the machine that's not a design flaw or nothing literally the battery is like right where all the snow goes and right next to the i don't know why they would put that there i actually don't mind it from a operator's standpoint i don't mind it because changing the battery is and jumping it is not a bad deal but and you know what i guess hey why would i complain about it since really if you think about it this backhoe should just about she's ready to go to the farm and become a farmhole i don't know if that makes sense to any of you guys but i'm not joking about that and the nothing is corroded you would think it wouldn't be good for it but nothing is bad sam i am what's up hey sorry about it i can't hear you sam that little what i can't find that little uh milwaukee battery-powered compressor but i got uh i got my big one from my house so i'm just gonna head on over there you don't really i think my compressor can do it i'll grab that little pancake one yeah that's fine whatever's clever alex had the little one last all right i'm on my way then i got some rockets for some compressors and a couple other things and uh yeah i'm on my way all right hey grab some wd-40 if you wouldn't mind i got some i grabbed some liquid wrench in my truck whatever we just need something to lube these up all right sounds good all right thanks sam catch it let's see what happens now oh is it the moment of truth is it the moment of truth here we go will she fire just purrs she just pers this is why we haven't gotten rid of it just listen to it she ain't pretty she got her kinks let's let's rev let's give her a little bit god that engine just solid sounding but she's been used for snow plowing for a lot of years so there's little things like the throttle you pick it up with your top big deal you know doors are rotting mice have infiltrated the cab but boy somebody that wants a good backhoe and is willing to put a little elbow grease into this thing's gonna have a good good machine almost sounds like i'm getting rid of it i should i honestly should i don't need it i don't need backup to backup equipment all right let's see how bad this tire is i'm going to lift the bucket off the ground and we'll just see how bad she squats well that tire's not that flat we'll pop a little deer juice in her little spring here that one's brand new i got the knobbies on it ooh pretty pretty knobbies all right guys i think the next thing we got to do is just put her through the paces a little bit and see how the hydraulics on the stinger were all right we're good there let's check for leaks of course you gotta have a leaker i mean that's just yeah we should probably see if that leak gets any worse sometimes they go away on their own i'm not joking sometimes it just needs a little bit of work so let's just try that nothing worse than just letting them sit for years on end that'll wear them out faster than working them a little bit so we're gonna work her a little bit before we put her to bed again that thing will always have a special place in my heart it was the first piece of equipment i was plowing in when i started here oh i went to the wrong side i went over to where we were parking the new stuff i was like oh damn he must get it running no well i do yeah it's running oh i got some dielectric grease well that'll work too dude i can't stand that like when those people stole that battery out of it it's like sweet we don't get i don't got to go to the recycling center that's what i was thinking i was like sweet i wanted to leave them all laying right around this backhoe yeah give him a big hand get up get rid of all the stuff we hit put a baby you can you boys can take this stuff here you go put a bait and a big free side in the window of the backhoe and then fully insure it for like twice as much as what it's worth leave the keys in it and leave them a jump box all right uh we do have a leaker but what i want to do with that is i just want to run her a little bit and just come back and check that leaker unless we've got something we could at least hit a wrench on it oh so it was leaking before huh yep all right well let's just let's just roll with it uh let's put her through her paces and see everything else works okay and then uh from there we'll uh we'll take her back and put her bring her back home down to the yard some of you guys don't like swing outdoors and you love swinging over doors well you like them until they come down on your head once that's not good that's not good that's not good that is not good that is not good [Applause] oh starving for fuel those fuel filter's got to be [Music] not in good shape hey sam i think we're going to end up dividing and conquering yeah um i think i'm going to run and go grab a new fuel filter yeah i'll get that all off and stuff yeah get it off pop open the thing put some new fuel in it grab some fuel supplement i think we got some diesel supplement back at home i think there might even be some in the truck in plain stroke just not 9-1-1 we don't need any anti-gel we just need something to clean out the fuel system and what i'm what i know is that there's actually like a mold that grows in the fuel now oh yeah yep on that new that biodiesel or whatever yeah yeah yeah yeah yes so that may be what our problem was something there was something that tim and i had that we had to gunk a whole bunch of that stuff out of there but they can't remember what it was it when it was on this machine this machine chronically has that problem it was it was like right after i started yeah that was a that was gross find out why don't you call tim and find out what you guys had to do yeah i'm gonna grab a pic of this and i'm gonna run to napa and see if they got a new fuel filter for me finn's code 8552 all right that's napa for ya you need something they got it including a fuel filter for a new holland battle from like oops 1970 something 80 something and we're gonna try this removes water and slime i don't know if this is exactly the right thing but we'll give it a go so besides this filter there's a secondary filter a mechanical filter yep okay that's oh wait wait wait look at that yeah i was gonna show you look at how nasty that is oh that's where our problem is yeah that i'm pretty yeah that's it look at that that's super separated yeah that's that's gooked that is pretty good yes sir all right well we could just drain it yeah i think you just spin the little thingy i think i might have a bucket how did the uh uh fuel filter come off okay i was about to pound a screwdriver through there then i got and then i got it but good old damper yeah shoes on there rough that's for sure i got it good old napa had what we needed though they're good for this kind of stuff dude they deliver they come through there's one fuel there's one like oil filter they have for one of the mowers that they never have but other than that yeah i had this thing pretty pretty flattened out yeah she was able to identify she's like oh that's a new holland filter blah blah blah like oh yeah she's like we only have the gold filter for them like you got one i love when that bag yep everything we always do is on purpose and unless we break something then it's not it looks like mud [Music] look at that nasty stuff [Music] there we go a little bit of something something on the bottom of that uh-huh all right where's the manual prime it's down there right on the bottom right here okay that's it right here okay i figured it out always the same thing yeah sorry so what we got going i think we got mold in it unscrew this top thing yeah this is your this is your uh primer primer right here and then you unscrew the top and then there's a filter in there that's the filter yep and then last one and then there's this one too um then you might have junk in the lines so when you pump this through you might want to pull this off and pump it up to here and make sure you blast out whatever is coming through here so it doesn't get caught because there's a screen let me show you if you want to pop that little little one apart just use the pliers i've worked on this too many times i know exactly go up to a 10. the little one right yeah i remember we did this like right after i i first started here usually i'm on the side of a road yeah look at that that is nasty so then the filter just kind of see if there's a whole oh my gosh yeah don't flip that out i want to see that yeah that's where our problem comes from yeah i got a little pick and so we'll scoop the rest of that out of there oh my gosh what is what kind of slime is that yeah that's mcdonald's cooking grease that's the that's what they make it out now yep this line might be full of crap but uh i popped this off too right here and then it's kind of uh there's a i don't know the names of everything but you pull this off and there's some sludge in there usually yeah and then this one goes up to the filter and then that one could have sludge in it too so then you put this back on and see that knob right there that's just to let the air out that's to let the air out and to fill it back in because it won't prime itself but you're going to want to pop this one too right here okay so that one right here say on this that elbow it'll be elbow pop that and then you clean that out and then you put the thing back on and then shoot some out of there you got a toothbrush yeah at home i got a couple of them does johnny do you need to ride back down to the yard because tim knows what he's doing i'd i'd probably rather have tim here doing this than me guessing he's fixed it yeah i've worked on him i know you do too if you want to stick around while we get it running you can or i can take you down and get you back home if you want to go back home up to you what do you want to do johnny just want to try and clean this up all right yeah it's always fun stuff with equipment yeah she was running real good for a little bit all right i'm gonna try to tighten that up while you guys are working on that sam do you got any wrenches open end wrenches i'm gonna try to clean up that i'm gonna try to tighten up that fitting that's leaking like a sieve hey what kind of mechanics tool says do you guys like i still got the box you bought me like 13 years ago yeah that was a generic but i use it yeah but what's that like do you guys have a name brand do you like i usually use crafting craftsman craftsman just because it's easiest and it used to used to be able to take in a ratchet and swap it out like you're ratcheting now they sent it now they make you get up my dad was doing that i mean to interrupt you but um they sent him a rebuild kit instead of a new ratchet oh what the flip yeah so that's kind of kind of sketchy with that um but i know like husky and stuff that home depot brand you bust it you bring it back in i left uh i left a ratchet sitting out in the snow and it got all messed you actually getting fuel out because he's blowing that's one good way of getting sick don't inhale oh there he goes we're good stop ding redneck engineering right there that's a farm boy fix right there that's a farm boy fix if i ever seen one he's got really strong lungs he's got strong…
