Avoid floor system failure and learn what makes a strong install 💪 #joists #floor #framing #learn

What happens here

Snap a chalk line on the sill plate, 1.5 inches back from the outside edge. This line will serve as the guide for the inside face of your rim joists. Next, use a speed square and pencil to mark the specific positions for your interior floor joists along the chalk line, typically at 16-inch or 24-inch intervals on center. Then, set your rim joists onto the sill plate, aligning their inside edge with the chalk line. Secure the rim joists to the sill plate by tacking them down with nails or using a nail gun.

Goal: Define the perimeter of the floor system and mark the locations for all supporting joists.
