please hit that like button consider subscribing to the channel this is everything rural lifestyle farming cooking all kinds of fun stuff and I just have a different kind of zest for life I also have a zest for activities outside I sleep indoors and I play Outdoors so today we're going to be talking a little bit about the Hondas that we have here on the Stony Ridge Farm this is not a sponsored video this is my opinion this is what I use on the farm and I think Honda makes an affordable reliable ATV and that's why I have all Hondas on my farm my father has all Hondas on his farm my stepfather has all Hondas on his farm and I encourage you to have them on your property and or if you want to use them for trail use now we're not going to be breaking any speed records with these machines today we're going to be talking about what they do and get you a little bit bit of footage of these machines at work here on the Stony Ridge so without further Ado we're going to walk through these and we're going to kind of walk from this one to this one and then we'll go to the center cuz this one is kind of the Playmobile this is for transportation only right now but it will be outfitted with all sorts of stuff from the farm this is a Rubicon 520 Rubicon 520 Honda foran 500 this is a 2023 2022 and this is a 2016 or 17 I do believe I bought it from my neighbor so kind of want to go about this systematically guys we want to talk about the ATV the machine first then we're going to talk about some of the things that I have on this machine which you can see these racks right here we're going to talk about what holds up what doesn't hold up and the differences between the three different machines right here so this is the Honda Forman 500 very very simple machine super easy to maintain super easy to check the oil bam just right there uh I write down when I change my oil and how much oil goes in that machine I always keep track of all that and I also write down underne underneath this little flip tab exactly what I have done maintenance wise on this Critter I think it's important it's my four-wheeler it's going to be my four-wheeler Forever Until I sell it so I can ride on it with a sharpie it's okay do that with your pickup truck if you want to you've got records all the time and that sales machines that makes resale value much better so there are several different types of Honda foremans I prefer the Honda foran with the headlight upstairs right here okay this is the foran 4x4 power steering e s which means electronic shift it does not have a floor shifter I prefer having the option of floor shift or electronic shift and basically up and down that's your shifter for engaging reverse just like Hondas of old instead of pushing down a button like you used to have to do you pull that first pull this click that down and that makes her into reverse this also doubles as your emergency break let's talk about wearable Parts this part will wear out look at it it's already wearing out I I bought eight of them I'm going to keep these machines and each machine has a very similar emergency brake lock or parking brake lock so I bought a bunch of them because they wear out this is a wear item on this machine I don't know why this is steel that's aluminum and that's just the way it is sometimes life throws you curve balls so you got to figure out how to hit them so here we got a little bit smaller seat on this machine than you'll have on the rubicons we'll talk about that in a second and I am on my second set of tires on this machine I decided to get some w tires and these are off of Amazon I'll post a link to them in the video description they have served me pretty well as a second set of tires on these machines I will say this keep your tire pressure low and your machine will ride much much smoother Plastics wise we're going to look at different types of plastics on this so This plastic here is red through and through as you can see from right here it's red it's red it's not painted it's not a surface that has some sort of a uh paint Scheme on it or anything like the foremans over here and we'll talk about that in a second walking around the machine the foremans have or excuse me the rubicons have a fully independent suspension where this has a solid axle I've got a 2-in ball on there and I pull my chicken Coupe around with that Critter I will say it's much easier to adjust the brakes on this machine it's just a little adjuster right there with a cow turd on it much easier to adjust the brakes on this than it is to adjust the brakes on those so far but I'm learning about these now let's talk about the battery system right here batteries here underneath right here I always keep a rag so I can wipe my seats off this four-wheeler is stored outside underneath here you got your air cleaner all that stuff for maintenance few wires stuff like that all pretty simple each one of these is basically the same battery compartment little toolbox tool kit in there and that little uh tailgate flips down can't get to it with this type of rack we'll talk about both types of racks here in just a second I keep a bucket on each one of my machines and this is called a culpen rhino grip I like the Rhino grip but guess what happens to the Rhino grip the Rhino grip likes to hit trees so I learned a little bit and I installed them in a better place on this machine we'll look at that in just a second they like to break so this is called a saww saa.com my good buddy Kenny runs that company and this is a weed Spade to help kill weeds pretty cool stuff you can easily service everything on this machine within about 30 minutes so a full service on this takes about 30 minutes for each one of these machines just a little head scratching there's tons of videos out there I think I even have a video out there now let's talk about the rack system this is a culpen rack I will say I do like the culpen rack I prefer the other rack we'll see here in just a second uh to the Cen front rack I will say that this is ridiculous this is completely silly why they would make a rack system and you can see I've already broken this why they make a rack system with the screws sticking straight up to stick you in the butt or what whatever it is that you uh are sitting on this so if you carry a passenger on this we have ripped numerous pants uh on that Critter and I guess I could just cut them off right there but that might make a sharp edge so I haven't done it this is the culen rack system I'll post a link to it in the video description about the same price as the Titan rack a little bit more robust as you can see this is much more robust okay but this is just not a good idea can I flip it and do that I could flip them but it's there there's not a good Universal mounting system for this so I recommend if you get one that you come up with your own idea on a mounting system walk can right around here on the right side of the machine not a lot over here you've got a brake pedal just like all the rest of them brake pedal here you have four-wheel drive and four-wheel drive diff lock on all these machines this is a little different than the automatic dual clutch machines we're going to see here in just a second so again walking right along I put a bicycle uh water bottle holder on here cuz I'm always needing to carry water bottles with me I always keep a bucket in each machine the buckets have holes in them so that they drain appropriately and this is a trash bucket so it gets dumped over in the dumpster again these Rhino grips are really cool but they don't hold up you see how they kind of flop around I've got a better system on the other four-wheeler fuel tank is right here you can access your uh radiator and all that jazz up under there there no use in showing you there is no compartment here and there is a compartment on these four-wheelers so that is roundabout what I have in this ATV now let's talk about the hours and Miles real quick before we go because this machine is the go-to user on the farm it's been here for a long time and I used a snot out of it especially in the winter time it Treads lightly on the pastures 1741 miles 361.50 hours I am slightly EXP experiencing a little bit of smoke on this machine I called my Honda dealer they said keep an eye on it it's not burning any oil or anything that I can see but I am experiencing some smoke issues with this machine does that mean the Rings are going bad I don't know it's been appropriately serviced I don't abuse it but I do pull a big heavy hay Bell so that may be a wear issue and I may be wearing it out again the Rhino grip doesn't hold up I've broken several of these and I just break them and order new ones just what happens here on the farm you just break stuff however I think these would be better suited in board right here okay keep them closed now we're going to skip over this one because this is utility we're going to go to utility Rubicon so this is an awesome awesome machine guys with a little bit different configuration both of them have an outlet right here 12volt Outlet uh both of them have a similar cockpit but the seat is a little more plush on a rub con it's much nicer and it tears easier ask me how I know this is a replacement seat I did tear this seat this ATV is outfitted with those same Rhino grips and basically they're outfitted right here so I can lay them across this also gives a passenger a little something to hold on to along with that right there again if you're carrying passengers I would encourage them to not hold on to that this rotates and moves in all different directions but this is the best configuration that I've seen if you want to haul those tools that go bang bang or go fishing with or for me fence post and cameras this is the rack the Titan rack I'll tell you the Titan rack did not hold up this thing is supposed to hold plenty of weight I uh 25 lbs of grass seed fits in this little uh ATV spreader again there'll be link to all this stuff and this cover is pretty cool so we got that right there 25 lbs of grass seed fits in this bouncing around through the pastures this has broken already and this rack has only been on here about about a month you can see it flopping around just a little bit uh I do keep again the same bucket and I keep a bungee strap that is called the perfect bungee keep that on here and I keep tools for trimming so if I'm riding down trails and I need to trim up some stuff I got it covered this is a nice rack I like it but I'm going to have to weld something up this is again another saw haul for hauling a chainsaw on this machine you can see I broke welds right here I'm going to have to weld up something to make this hold up just a little bit better under this is the battery compartment again under here are all your air filters and everything that you need I've actually got the wires coiled up for that up under here and when I'm ready to use it I plug it in let's look at the front end right here now with this rack on you can't access this little door but I'll show you on the ATV that doesn't have the rack your fuel canisters right there pretty simple stuff we'll hop up on here I've not noticed a difference in the fuel economy of a Rubicon versus the fuel economy uh of the Honda foran this is a little different okay I bought this used and I bought that used when you buy a used one with low hours be very wary of the person that you're buying it from I bought it from a young gentleman it has 268 miles on it now 57 hours it is in no way as nice a machine as that it's more comparable to that when it comes down to it you can hear uh when we start it it kind of grunts here we go it fired right up it did pretty good got a little tick a little rattle not sure what's going on there uh but again it's an indestructible Honda that's just about it same thing uh the up high headlight I do like this basket better but the headlight is restricted by that basket I guess you could cut a little dip out right there if you wanted to for your high beams now looking at this this is a little bit different this has the Dual clutch setup and you can shift it uh manually and for going into reverse you simply Boop pull that and click very simple parking brake simp simple like that uh same apparatus it looks like down there so I anticipate that will wear just a little bit when you turn these machines off you want to make sure that they're out of Gear Watch so I'll click it in the drive so now it's in drive it will automatically shift if I click over to ESP it's on manual shift and I click a button it'll shift us up and down but it won't shift us up and down until we get a little speed now turn it back to auto shut this thing off if you want added security put your four-wheeler in four-wheel drive diff lock and leave it in gear okay they can't roll it they can't roll it that they're going to have to go through a lot of work to get it out of gear so that's a good security measure when you're parking it in your garage I recommend leaving it in neutral when I turn this on you'll hear it click okay I hear that that prematurely will wear on the transmission I don't know it for a fact push button four-wheel drive diff lock just like the rest of it everything is exactly the same pretty much here again if you buy a used four-wheeler pay attention The Handlebar got bent right here something was going on this has a low and a drive setting I typically use it in Drive unless I'm pulling something let's step off right here now we were talking about fit and finish you can see this is that beautiful Honda blue what a pretty ATV fit and finish with the wheels they really look nice really sharp however look inside here this is not blue through and through it's black okay and I keep my remotes garage remotes and stuff like that in there it's not blue through and through so this will rub off okay so be gentle with it you can see where my feet have rubbed it off just a little bit right there that hurts your resale guys so take good care of it now onward and upward to the prettiest one on the farm I picked this up used with 20 hours on it that one had 20 hours on it I haven't used this one very much cuz it's kind of the Cadillac for the farm this has a little bit uh different style wheel this is an all black wheel if you do get a Rubicon don't get the Plain Jane wheels go ahead and get the right stuff get the nice stuff guys really robust it's all basically on the same platform as the foreman you can see the foot platform is basically the same the wheels and tires wheels are different but the tires stock here are just about the same stock tires that came on that machine now we're going to look at this again we have the low and the drive this one runs just a little bit better guys it's just a little bit nicer a little more plush and you're going to pay a premium for that camo if you buy it from a dealer reason I bought them used is because I didn't want to pay that premium right open up our tailgate right here toolkit got a strap that holds the battery down this one the strap is gone the toolkit's gone what does that tell you some kid had it that's what it tells me this is clean as is a whistle easy to keep clean again this is your independent suspension on all four wheels is it a game changer okay is independent suspension a huge deal absolutely not is it a huge deal if you ride ATVs with someone who is not very experienced and they don't understand how to shift the gears like this one you've got to shift gears on this one so if you're riding with someone and that's the reason I picked up two rubicons one was for my wife who's no longer here and one was for me she didn't understand so much how to shift gear she didn't grow up shifting gears and most I say most young people most young people nowadays don't know exactly how to shift gears and unless you've been in Motorsports or unless you've grew up with a stick shifter you don't really know how to shift gears in most cases so these two automatics are kind of a universal machine that you can put just about anybody on and all they have to do is hit that thumb that machine requires a little bit more thought and a little bit more experience these are the ATVs that I use on the farm I know there are tons of other brands and I hope to test tons of other brands here on the farm love to get a Canam on up here try it out get some Yamaha stuff up here Suzuki stuff but right now these are the Hondas and this is what keeps the farm running guys thank you so much hit that like button subscribe to the channel i' love to have you back here on the Stony Ridge
