6.2L LS Equal Length Headers with NASCAR Tri Y Collectors! Equal vs Unequal (Science of Sound Pt2)

What happens here

To create the first primary pipe, identify the shortest and straightest path from a cylinder exhaust port to the collector point. Cut sections from stainless steel pipes and U-bends (e.g., 2-inch Woolf Aircraft pipe) and fit them together. Use masking tape (yellow 3M autobody painters tape is recommended) to temporarily hold the sections in place. Lightly tack weld these sections together to form a solid, but adjustable, mock-up of the first primary.

Goal: Construct a rough, tack-welded version of the shortest primary pipe.

Tools and materials

  • Masking Tape 3M — Temporarily holding pipe sections together
  • Stainless Steel Pipes Woolf Aircraft — Forming the primary pipe sections
  • Stainless Steel U-Bends — Creating curved sections of the primary pipe
  • TIG Welder Fronius — Tack welding pipe sections
  • Welding Gloves Tillman 1338L — Protecting hands during welding
  • Welding Helmet Vizor Pro — Protecting eyes and face during welding

I don't know if that's going to change the sound I've been figuring out how to use this the fur markout Pro that Michael let us borrow super awesome dude this is like really neat you can kind of get it use it to get a reference on what the angles are so if you know you're under there and you got something that doesn't quite fit and you know need a little bit more of a gap you can say okay I'm going to if it's 50° I'm going to try 55 and see if that works then you at least you know what you're messing with instead of just eyeballing it it kind of helps you figure things out quicker I'm getting the hang of using this I've never used one before I did the Escalade all freehand and Shane's header all freehand I've never had any type of tools like that to use now I'm going to pull this
