6.2L LS Equal Length Headers with NASCAR Tri Y Collectors! Equal vs Unequal (Science of Sound Pt2)

What happens here

Once all primary pipes are correctly mocked up and their lengths adjusted, remove them from the engine for final welding. Set up a back purging system by sealing one end of each pipe with foil or a cap and introducing Argon gas from the other end. This prevents contamination and ensures strong, clean welds. Fully TIG weld all tack-welded joints on each primary pipe. After welding, install the O2 sensor bung onto the collector pipe.

Goal: Permanently weld all primary pipes and prepare for engine installation.

Tools and materials

  • Argon Gas Cylinder — Providing back purging during welding
  • Foil/Tape — Sealing pipe ends for back purging
  • O2 Sensor Bung — Providing a mounting point for the oxygen sensor
  • TIG Welder Fronius — Fully welding all pipe joints
  • Welding Gloves Tillman 1338L — Hand protection
  • Welding Helmet Vizor Pro — Eye and face protection
  • Workstation/Table — Holding pipes during welding

of a gap you can say okay I'm going to if it's 50° I'm going to try 55 and see if that works then you at least you know what you're messing with instead of just eyeballing it it kind of helps you figure things out quicker I'm getting the hang of using this I've never used one before I did the Escalade all freehand and Shane's header all freehand I've never had any type of tools like that to use now I'm going to pull this out and measure the length so I know what I'm shooting for with the other ones and I'm going to put it on a piece of wire like um just like electrical wire and then I'll kind of use that to sort of rough up the general path that I
