What happens here

This project guides through the process of replacing an old ceiling fan with a new one. It involves safely disconnecting the old fan, inspecting the existing electrical wiring, installing a new mounting bracket, connecting the new fan's electrical components, securing the fan motor and housing, and finally attaching the fan blades. The new fan features remote control operation, eliminating the need for a wall switch.

Our day in the life as a residential electrician, come with me, let's go. So, the first thing I do is I drive my work van to the customer's house and a lady said she needed a [music] ceiling fan replaced and she bought a new one and was tired of looking at the old one. Nothing was wrong with the old fan, but sometimes people get tired of old things in their home. Like an old car versus new car. So, this is a very common call. So, I take out the old fan and here's what the wiring looked like in the box. It was just a 14-2 Romex cable, one hot wire, one neutral wire, and one ground wire and it was in great shape. So, then I get the new fan, attach the new mounting bracket, I then attach the motor to the bracket. Typically, ceiling fans have a safety holder so you can wire the connections without having a helper to hold it up. I wired the motor, put in the set screws at the top so the motor is secured to the bracket. There was four set screws on this fan. Then I put the housing on. Typically, a lot of fans come with a housing or a collar for the purpose of hiding any mechanical components. Last step, I install the new fan blades and boom, she's finished and looking pretty. New fan complete, customer satisfied, the fan is working. This fan was only controlled by a remote and there was no switch on the wall. I put my tools away and got to eat some lunch. And that's what a day looks like as an electrician.
