3 Ways To Temporary Cap A Drain Line

For another effective temporary solution, use a plastic 1 1/2-inch female cap. The drain pipe has external threads (brass MIP), and the female cap has internal threads. The presenter notes that the existing threads already have a bit of PTFE thread seal tape (Teflon tape) on them, which acts as an anti-seize and helps create a better seal. Simply align the female cap with the drain's threads and screw it on clockwise until it is hand-tight.
