all right boys this is the 20 must things that every work truck needs to have on it let's get this show started one of the things we learned long ago that every work truck needs is a tow rope and we don't carry just one we carry multiple tow ropes for different applications but while we're digging through the back of my truck another one of the items on our list is a flashlight and not just any flashlight you need this Milwaukee flashlight not because I care about selling Milwaukee Tools I don't but this flashlight is critical because it can stand up it can lay down you can angle it you can tilt the head this flashlight right here may be the single best flashlight that we've ever used and it'll last for hours and this one gives you different light modes sorry about shining that in your eye but a flashlight is absolutely critical along with a tow rope those are two let's keep going okay okay as we walk around some of the absolute fundamentals for what the kind of work we do is a toolbox a bulk fuel tank and a trailer hitch those are mandatory on every work truck that we send out now when you go inside of your toolbox critical element is oil you're going to need a variety of oils depending on the kind of equipment you use well wish wash isn't critical uh we've got a different hydraul we use a combination of hydraulic oil automatic transmission fluid oils um coolant antifreeze and different kind of oils that will fit into our equipment and of course a funnel always carry an extra funnel cuz oil doesn't do any good if it's just spraying on the ground now as we go into the door I always carry it right on the passenger side so I know where it is and that is a roll of wire and a Cutters this is great if you lose your trailer hitch I always also like to carry extra cotter pins on me but this is the universal cotter pin system right here uh wire comes in super handy stick a roll of wire in there trust me you will thank me at some point when that comes in handy for you now tools this is going to be one that's Up For Debate and needs to be tailored specifically to the kind of work that you're doing for us a different variety of mechanics tool sets absolutely comes in handy every single one of our trucks has both a prefabricated set something you can grab and go and they're not expensive tools these are tools that they could get lost they could get stolen these are not our premium tools these are tools to use in an emergency to get you off the side of a road we also carry inside of every one of our trucks a soft bag of tools and we put a different variety of things in here this is a soft bag that's just ready to grab and go we got wire brushes uh lock on pliers screwdrivers heck this one's even got some extra adhesive I don't know why that's in there but we fill them up especially with different kinds of wrenches but that's not all of the tools you need you're going to need some other specialty tools that I promise you will come in handy now before we get into some of those other tools that I think you really do need to have you got to have a set of jumper cables probably not these These are why these are sitting on the door but jumper cables are another thing that every working truck should have this is a fire extinguisher don't put that fire extinguisher in your truck put a modern-day fire extinguisher in your truck and while you're doing the roadside emergency situation make sure that you have an extra Jack not the one that came with the truck but an extra Jack your fire extinguisher either flares or triangle so if you do have a breakdown when you're on the side of the road you can notify other people we've used all of these things at some point and learned that you've got to have this stuff in your truck and if you don't you end up wishing you did have it one of the things we found especially helpful is having extra tie downs in fact we have an entire bag just filled with extra tie downs and it's loose and discombobulated right now my truck is a mess it needs to be cleaned up now these these are these tie downs is actually strap lizard they're okay um that's not the point the point is have some extra tie downs on your truck of all sizes all varieties all lengths keep them handy I mean if we flip this seat up we're probably going to find some even yep here we go we got some bigger tie downs under here here uh in my truck I always keep an extra impact just in case it doesn't make a difference what brand it is just make sure you got it it comes in so handy for that but extra tie downs are a really important thing to carry along with you you will use them and as I look around my truck this isn't by happen stance this one's going to be iffy for you guys not extra gloves you need you do need to have extra gloves but a complete change of clothing a complete from the shirt to the pants to gloves gles to PPE to safety glasses to a hard hat to high visibility and the reason I say this is if you've ever been pumping diesel fuel or working on a piece of equipment and got sprayed by hydraulic fluid or got sprayed by diesel fuel and then you had to continue working for the rest of the day by the time you get home you are sick you don't feel good it is a miserable experience having a complete compl set of clothes to change out of and into and it doesn't have to be fancy clothes it's just something to get you away from the smell if you get sprayed and then what you want to have with you is a box of Rags heavyduty Rags because if you do get sprayed you're going to be wiping off you're going to be wiping down you may not have water available make sure you've got some way of getting that stuff off from you and when we go when we talk about the chop rags and two uh that you need I don't care what you use it can be disposable it can be a bag of Rags it can be anything that you can at least wipe yourself down it's got to be heavyduty enough in a backup Backup backup situation you can use the stuff that you find at the gas station but those usually disintegrate before they wipe anything off so if you invest in something a little heavier Duty a little better when you do get sprayed or you do get that grease on you or that oil oil or that fuel you will be thankful you've got something decent to wipe yourself off with and it's just cheap insurance to keep extra close right down to shoes there's nothing worse than being stuck in an excavator or stuck in a skid loader or a dozer or whatever piece of equipment you're running and your feet are covered in diesel and all that does is come up and you just breathe it in all day long it is it is miserable from top to bottom a complete change of clothes is one of the things I always recommend especially in the winter time but in the summer it's almost just as important now another phenomenal thing to carry with you is an extra grease gun an extra tubes of Grease even though you're supposed to have that on your job site I can't tell you how many times it will come in handy but find a sacrificial bag something you don't care about and shove that in that bag because eventually this was our grease gun bag you can see they get dirty once you begin cracking them open and using them so an extra grease gun extra tubes of grease in its own carry case not with its own tools not with anything you care about I talked about that extra tool here it is you're going to want a sledy and a breaker bar I don't care what kind of breaker bar this one is definitely Overkill I also like to carry just a hollow pipe and the reason I like to carry a hollow pipe along is that that that's a universal tool I don't care what you use it for I don't have any Hollow pipes right here but just a 3 to 4ft section of hollow pipe that I can throw in the bed of my truck and that's great to put on the end of a tie down strap if you got a really torque on it or you got to use some leverage and pop something up having a a a breaker bar or a hollow pipe or both is definitely on my list that goes in every single one of my okay extra tape measure always carry an extra tape measure cuz yours will get borrowed and eventually it will walk off so I don't care what color it is I don't care what brand it is always carry an extra tape measure with you because you will need it but here's one of the things that you let me know if this would be on your list and that is one of these portable air compressors these things have turned out to be Lifesavers on more than one occasion and in fact this is Milwaukee's well that one here's another one this is Milwaukee's smaller version they actually have a little bit of a larger version than this it's about twice as big and their larger air compressor will fill up a skid loader tire from almost flat I mean it's holding air to full in 5 minutes these portable air compressors Lifesavers just game changers get yourself a portable air compressor okay that's going to call it for my list those are the 20 things that we carry in every single one of our vehicles what did I miss I'm going to throw in a few two things as I look around my garage cable ties th these are I mean everything from if you got an exhaust falling down to uh loose wires uh dangling or I mean there's so many times when cable ties come in handy but what do you what did I miss and what do you guys carry in your truck let me know in the comments down below God bless go get them thanks for sticking around boys
