painting faster more efficient and they're just basically a bunch of hacks that are put together for you to watch it's a pretty cool video before you uh watch the video if you haven't subscribed to you to know okay the first hack today is going to be on painting cabinets i get a lot of questions about masking cabinets and how we go about masking cabinets and especially the face frames and it's kind of very simple but if you just watch the video the background you'll see some some tips and tricks on it and some hacks but what i do is just applying tape to the back of the face frames and then it's just going to be taking and tacking some plastic over the top of that and that way it keeps paint out of the inside of the box we're typically never painting the inside of the boxes because they're melamine and they don't accept paint and they'll never wear up to the wear and tear so we always mask the face frames and we do spray our face frames so just check out right here some of these really cool tips and tricks while i'm masking and you'll get some ideas how i go about doing it and it's very fast simple and easy to do and then some people will be asking well why not just brush and roll them we can mask a lot faster than we could actually just brushing and roll them so we'll mask them spray them because we're also spraying the doors inside inside of a spray booth inside the kitchen so check it out and just watch and stay tuned for these really cool tips and tricks so i got a really cool hack for you and if you've got a squeaky door you've got one right here i'm going to even show you it squeaks and it's really annoying this handy little tool the spring tool will make removing hinge pins fast and easy so you can get rid of the squeaks and once it starts squeaking what starts happening is you start getting this black dust all around your trim which is nasty little graphite dust caused by the hinge not being lubricated in two metals working on each other and rubbing against each other i use just typically a bearing grease right here that i lubricate my hinge pins with but all you got to do is strike your hinge pin with your hinge pin remover and it will remove it just like that now i can lubricate my hinge pin you can see how it like popped out a little bit it might sometimes you know be good for you to wear safety glasses when you do it if you're concerned about the thing popping up and hitting you in the eye got enough experience doing it that typically don't do it now i'm going to take my hammer it'll slide in there it's got to go just a little bit farther i'll tap it in with a hammer and now i've got a lubricated hinge pin next one i'm going to just pop it out i'm gonna lubricate it once again i just use a bearing grease you can use any type of your lubricant to keep them from being metal metal rubbing and keep them from leaving that graphite just got one down on the bottom that still squeak a little bit i'm gonna do that one very simple and easy to do it's the hinge pin remover from spring tools all right just got the third one done no more squeak in three minutes okay i got a quick and simple hack for you today i've got a window right here scenario i want to get a really perfectly straight line you can just hand cut it in but it might go up too high or might go down too low and not just be perfectly straight across i just use a simple framer square typically carry it around with me me when i'm doing trim i'm gonna just put it on my corner line it up with the window i'm gonna take my five in one tool right here i just use a two edge knife and then i'm gonna score that right there and then that leaves a nice little line that's perfectly straight right across that it's gonna look awesome now you can take and hand cut it in right there because it leaves a little ridge and your brush can follow that ridge but what i actually like to do to even make it more perfect i'm going to take some frog tape got some frog tape right here and i'm going to use clear caulking also i'm going to take frog tape and i had that scored line so i put my frog tape right on that line and then you can just right now paint it and the frog tape will swell and keep it from bleeding through but just one added extra measure all i do is take some clear caulking i'm going to put some clear caulking right on that edge of that tape right there just going to wipe it off because that's going to pre-seal the edge of the tape and then i'm going to paint right over it and pull my tape while it's wet so i've got my paint right here just takes my white paint pull my tape while it's wet now i've got a perfectly straight line so one of the things i really don't like is putting on my mask after i've used it for a day and you know because all the oils from my skin from the previous day and the dirt and paint and dust are in there so i like to clean my mask out every single time i use it and then it also disinfects it how i do it i just take rubbing alcohol because rubbing alcohol disinfects and it also dries really fast so i just take a clean rag and i just wipe down the part that seals to my face because it'll even give you a better seal because typically if you don't do this it's all dusty and grimy from the previous use and i don't like your paint from the other day on there and you can see the alcohol takes the paint off really fast makes your mask even smell fresh too because they don't like smelling my breath from the yes the day before so i do that and sometimes if it's really dirty too i just take a little bit of alcohol put it inside swish it around and that way it disinfects the whole entire side good to do if you were sick and you were painting and stuff so just to disinfect your mask and now it's all nice and fresh and clean that's what i do every single day that i spray prior to spraying because i just want my face to feel fresh and i want to smell a fresh mask every time i do it simple how simple hask or hack we'll call it hack simple hack cleaning your mask have you ever wondered how professional painters work inside of stairwells like this and get up high and do ceiling cut-ins well one of the tricks of the trades is using a ladder tool like this this is made by pivot and it levels a ladder on stairs so i can take this now i can work it down my stairs i can take a six foot ladder or any ladder set it on here and now it levels my ladder inside of the stairs if i needed to reach higher i can use the ladder level or box right here in conjunction with a pivot extend climb ladder and level it in this stairwell i can just work it down this stairwell leveling my ladder on each one of these steps and that's how i actually hung the pictures in this stairwell there's a lot of other uses you can use this box for besides just inside stairs you can use it on a roof you can use it outside on uneven ground et cetera you can go check out their website there's all kinds of really cool tools i've been using these things for over 15 years now i think had them in my vehicle and they last almost forever a great tool simple hack for working inside of a stairwell hey you know i'm here in the greco booth and it's took him 18 years to figure this out but i don't know why this is it hasn't dawned on me a long time ago but see when i'm spraying typically i'm spraying with one hand and this hand is doing nothing i can't believe it's in my pocket or someplace not even being useful this is the way to go we've got this little system right here i swear this is this is gonna be revolutionary i'm gonna start spraying with two guns now two guns are better than one so check it out here we go now why the heck hasn't somebody thought about this 15 years ago dual head tip extension you ain't got nothing right here two guns are better than one i got another simple hack for you using nine inch paper and one inch tape and i'm gonna be spraying some ceilings in here and i've got some can lights up there and we want the can lights to actually match the ceiling at the same time and we're gonna be spraying those two but i don't want overspray to get inside where the light bulb is and light socket otherwise when you screw the light socket back in it's probably not gonna work so this is a very simple and easy method instead of trying to stick some tape up there and getting zapoed you know with electricity on make sure the electricity is off anyways but i just take 9s paper i just take it and i wad it up and just a ball like this i'm going to remove the light bulb and i'm just gonna stuff my paper up inside there and that's gonna protect the socket outlet inside there from getting overspray on it and causing the bulb not to work a very simple and easy hack using nine inch paper and one inch tape handy tip of the day we're going to catch dust with our hand masker when we're cutting the whole wall got a imaginary hole we're going to be dealing with right here but i'm going to show you how you can catch the dust and debris with a hand mount just take put a piece of paper on the wall you can lift it up fold in half now i'm going to take a piece of tape i'm going to bring my paper up put it at a slight angle tape it i'm going to do the same thing to the opposite side and this is going to create a nice handy catch basin for everything that comes out of this hole when i'm cutting or sanding handy tip of the day so i got another simple hack for you when it comes to using paper and i've got a handrail right here going up the stairs we're going to be spraying some ceilings in here and i don't want any over spray to fall down on these handrails and i can just simply cover those and tack some paper over the top of it and it's fast and easy to do i'm using a hand masker one inch tape if you're concerned about the tape pulling off the finish on the walls or something you can just use green frog tape which it will not lift off your finishes i'm just going to take a hand masker and i can tack it to my handrail or the wall i'm just going to run it up here just like that and that's a simple way to keep any overspray fallout dust from hitting your nice smooth handrails when you're done spraying it's simple and easy to do you pull it right off paper hack with nine inch paper and one inch tape today i got a simple hack for you and that's using a hand masker in paper instead of a dust pan if you simply can't find your dustpan on the job site or you don't have a dustpan and you have some dirt on the floor that you swept up that you should be sweeping up and cleaning up before you leave the job site here's a simple fast easy way very effective got a hand masker with some tape all i do is i sweep everything up in a pile and then i simply make a dustpan with my paper so i can make it with two rows if i want if there's a lot of debris to pick up or i can just make it with one row then all i do is just sweep my debris onto my paper and now i'm just gonna roll it up and pick it up and it's even more effective than a dust pan because there's no lip right here to have to get the garbage on so now i'm just gonna fold it up and there goes my garbage simple hack with nine inch paper and one inch tape okay got another really cool hack for you using nine inch paper and one inch tape and we're gonna be painting some ceilings i don't want any overspray or splatter to fall onto the top of my ceiling fan blades because you never know anytime somebody's gonna get up there and look and see the paint so i'm gonna be masking using paper and one inch tape i don't want to use a production tape because if you tape on your ceiling fan blades you could pull off the finish so i'm going to just use frog tape i'm going to switch out my tape to frog tape i'm going to be using this handy dandy masker right here now all i do is just pull enough paper that's going to cover the blade i'm just going to set it right on the top and i'll just tack it on one of the sides right here just in a couple places just like that i can just move the ceiling fan and do the next blade make sure your paper is long enough while you're up here you could do the customer service and clean the fan blades because these fan blades are pretty dang dirty but there you go simple tip with nine inch paper one inch tape frog tape there's nothing more frustrating than looking for screws that you need when you're on a job site and you can't find them i've got a really cool hack for you and that is using a paper masker to make a container for your screws so they won't be lost and you can find them very simply and easily i just take rip off a piece of paper and i take and fold it over right here so the two sides of the tape that got the adhesive touch together i'm gonna fold it over right there and then i'm gonna take the end right here where they're on tacked together i'm gonna fold that over right there and then i'm going to tack that down with tape and that's going to seal these sides to the container right here and then it has a simple little opening right here now i can just drop in my screws or whatever i need to seal inside there i'm gonna drop those down in there and then because it is paper it's easy to just write what's on there there's six cup hooks i'll just write six cup hooks and i like to just write where they came from they came from the bedroom number two that way we know what's in there and how many are in there and then i'll just take the top of the container fold it over and this makes a handy little container that you can store things in so they won't get lost now i'm just going to toss these into a five gallon bucket and if i have several of them i can just pull them out it tells me exactly what's in there now i can just easily open it up take out what i need if i'm only going to take out a certain amount i can just tear that and then reach and then fold that over and reseal that and continue using it again simple little hack using paper and a hand masker handy tip of the day we're going to catch dust with our hand masker when we're cutting the whole wall got a imaginary hole we're going to be dealing with right here but i'm going to show you how you can catch the dust and debris with a hand mount just put a piece of paper on the wall you can flip it up fold in half now basin for everything that comes out of this hole when i'm cutting or sanding handy tip of the day i want to show you the corner roller this is an absolutely amazing roller this is what's different about the corner plus roller than any other roller one end of the roller is completely covered over and it makes doing cut-ins simple and easy your corners don't have to be brushed and your walls in the ceiling corners don't have to be brushed if they're still the same color combined with an extension pole it's going to make things fast and easy the corner plus roller comes in polyester and it also comes in a microfiber roller and half inch and three quarter inch this is a must-have for any do-it-yourselfer or professional painter today i got a handy tip for you and it's how to keep overspray from running down your walls if you need to spray your trim and you've already painted your walls for some reason typically this mask all around my window here with nine inch paper one inch tape and now the key to this is just taking flipping over your paper in half and i'll just increase that and now i'm going to tack that down in three places and i'll be doing this around my entire window just like this pack it on the edge middle and the top now i'll show you what effect that has if i was spraying my window trim right here if i'm spraying here this flap right here this is going to cause your old frame to come out and it's going to kick out and it won't run down your wall so you won't have to repaint your wall simple handy tip to control over spray so i keep getting asked why would i use the brush baggie and here's one right here it looks extremely professional the customer walks in the house and they see my brush in this they know i'm neat clean and a professional painter so you can choose the brush baggie or you can choose a grocery bag and you can see how that looks if the customer walks in the house or you can use a doggy poop bag and your customer just might think you treat your tools like crap so what do you want to use a brush baggie or a doggy poop bag i got a simple little trick for you and that's making a spackle dispenser out of a little ziploc bag and it keeps your spackle from drying out on your spackle knife or from it drying out in your container while you're taking and filling holes on your walls so all i got to do is just take a little bit of spackle out of my container like a spackled ball right here i'm going to put this into a ziploc bag i'm just going to drop it down into the corner of the bag right here and this is an amazing little spackle dispenser that will not dry out it can sit out for days so i'm going to put it down in the corner to get all the air out of my bag and now all you got to do is poke a hole into your dispenser the size of the spackle that you want to be dispensed i can poke a little tiny little hole and it's just going to dispense a small amount of spackle just like that if you just got little pin holes to do or if you want a larger hole you can just poke a larger hole and it's going to dispense more spackle so i can just poke a little bit larger hole and now i've got myself a nice little spackle dispenser and i can just dispense it onto my knife and dispense it just like that or i can just dispense it right into the holes on the wall to fill the holes and then i would just scrape them off with my knife simple little spackle dispenser when i'm done if i'm really concerned about saving money i can just open my sparkle container take out the leftover sparkle if i didn't use very much scrape it back inside there and i'm all done simple little spackle hack the mud more mix ball the simple and easy way to make fast hot mud that's buttery smooth every single time it comes with two cups comes with a mud cup and a water cup it's mixed in a three to one ratio it also comes with a little rubber spatula that is for mixing the mud on the inside of your mud mixed mud and more mixed ball mix balls a silicone ball so anything that dries inside of it easily cracks out just by crumpling the ball it'll fall right out and clean very fast and very easy all i got to do is mix three cups of hot mud i'm gonna pour it out i got a small bag and i'm almost out of hot mud so we're gonna see we'll make three level scoops of hot mud there's one there's a level scoop three to one ratio every single time gives you perfect hot mud there's two put the water right in there now i'm gonna do is take my spatula and my drill it comes out a…
