Oh, nice. Oh, it's so awesome to see you, especially Jake, 17 years old, busting your butt since you're 8 years old, to go home with this. And this reminds me of why they call these a widow maker, Frankie. Because right now, without realizing it, I'm standing underneath the prank. Hey, I think that was a pretty close call for you getting a couple more. >> Yeah. What do you think of them? >> Sweet. >> That's your favorite lawn mower, isn't it? >> I like them. Yeah, I do. >> Well, good, cuz one of them is yours. I knew you liked it, so I got you one. >> Cool. Cool. >> This one here that's winding out. >> They're all dead. Do you know you're bleeding? >> Yeah, that was that second to the last breath got me. [Music] Good morning one and all. We got Frankie here today and we got a big problem. I don't normally care about widow makers. They don't bother me. But this one, >> this one bothered you. This one is a bad one cuz if it falls, it's going to fall and crush the fence underneath it. Then the dogs are getting out and our dogs can't we can't afford to let our dogs out. I don't know, Frank. Yeah, I don't know how the hell we're going to do this one. >> Where is it? >> Yeah, that's the problem. If you come out here and you look straight up, the It's It looks like it's caught in that walnut tree. >> Oh, >> that's a big one. You can see where it snapped right there. There it is hanging. And it's angled right straight down over the fence. >> Oh, we can get a rope around it. >> Oh, >> you got a fishing pole. >> Wait, >> then then pull the rope up. We get that wrapped. We can actually pull downward if nothing else. >> I don't care how we do it or cut the tree below it. But we've got to figure out a way to catch it because right now it is 5050 split. There it is. There. Oh, here's the fence. And you guys can't see nothing. I'm sorry. But even we can't see hardly anything. >> Oh god, look at that thing, Frankie. It's way up there. >> Yeah, it's a high one right there. >> Yeah, we'd have to cut the top of that walnut tree straight off. >> Yeah, you don't want to do that. I mean, >> well, yeah, but if there's no way of pulling it, yanking it out. It's right there. Frankie and I are got some thinking to do. But there's something else I got to show you when we're done with this one, Frankie. >> Okay. >> I think we have an escort pumpkin. She goes on walks with us. >> Really? >> Yeah. Yeah. We'll we'll go for mile, two mile walk around the neighborhood. And >> she's right here. She's follows right behind with the dogs. >> Unreal. I I don't know a cat. Maybe you guys have a cat that does that. >> We could get a couple more, huh? >> Yeah. What do you think of them? >> [ __ ] sweet. >> Yeah. That's your favorite lawn mower, isn't it? >> I like them. Yeah, I do. >> Well, good. Cuz one of them is yours. Were >> they both the same size? >> They're both exactly identical. I wanted one and I knew you liked it, so I got you one. >> Cool. Cool. Because uh um they How wide are decks are these? >> Uh what' I get them at? I think I got them at >> You got to be four footage, right? >> No, I think they're >> Yeah, that's four >> 50 52 in. That's That was I think that's what you said you like the best was 52. >> That's what we have up north now, right? >> Yeah. 52. These are both a 52 in. >> The other one up north must be bigger than >> Maybe it's a 60 in. >> I bet you that's a 60 in. No, that's fine >> cuz you didn't want them too big cuz they were >> they don't get even, >> right? They scalp a little bit. >> Yeah, >> but I get to keep these. I get to keep this strap. You get to pick whichever one you want. They're identical, but I get to keep that one strap. I need it for my squirrel cage >> strap. >> Yeah, this thing. I need this big giant binder or zip tie. The big zip tie. >> I got I got some 5 foot. >> I couldn't find my zip ties anywhere. No, you can take that home with you. You can use it. You can sell it. You can park it in your bedroom. You can do whatever you want. One of these two is yours. >> Cool. >> And the other one I thought we would park over on the other side of the uh >> the lake. >> The lake. >> Yep. >> So that way we don't have to hike it around, >> right? >> All right. Well, guys, I want to introduce you to Jake and Rod right here. Jake's the actual official winner. Rod's the dad because Jake's not even 18 yet. Jake, how old are you? >> 17. >> You mean 17? Rod's the official winner. >> Rod's the official winner cuz Jake 17, but Jake actually is the one that technically won. Uh you won the gas grass and glory giveaway. So you took you taken home the whole enchilada, the yaka mower, the crest power tools, the two chore warrior wheelbarls and everything. But Jake, tell me about your start, will you? How did you get started in in run doing landscaping? >> Well, honestly, I mean, I was around 8 years old or so. I just I always had an entrepreneurship mind. I was always trying to make money and finally I got old enough that they would let me start going out around the neighborhood and uh picking up little jobs and I made little flyers and whatever and uh just got little tiny jobs here and there making like nothing obviously cuz I was so young. Um, and then it honestly just kind of every year more and more jobs, just bigger jobs, higher quality, and you know, more expensive. And as time went on, I mean, it just got huge, you know what I mean? And blew up. And, uh, it's it's been great. It's been pretty straightforward. I mean, you know, there's been ups and downs, I guess, but it's been, you know, really awesome so far. >> Yeah. But you're getting all the ups and downs out of the way at such an early stage. your resiliency, your bounceback rate is going to propel you forward. I mean, really, you're learning that you've learned the hard way. So, did you have any mentors along the way? >> Uh, yeah, absolutely. I mean, I've watched you for the majority of my career. I've always, you know, looked up to you and the boys and learned a lot from you guys. Uh, you know, obviously I've looked up to my parents. I mean, they've helped me walk they've helped walk me through all sort of different adversities and pretty much everything I've dealed dealt with throughout uh you know, running this company, whatever. Um, and they've really helped me along the way and uh, you know, just kind of friends, family friends who just kind of supported me and helped me keep going. Uh, pretty much. >> So, Rod, are you actually hands-on in the business with Jake? Um, well, initially probably a little bit more hands-on than I am now because, uh, well, you know, when he's getting started, some of the jobs, uh, you know, he wouldn't say no to anything. He wanted to just get out there and work. So, some of the things got a little bit bigger than, uh, you know, once he got into it than he anticipated, and then, uh, I'd go in and help him a little bit and assist what he was doing and we'd kind of work together. And then also before he was 16, I mean, his mom and I basically would take him to a job and drop him off and then come back hours later and pick him up. He we had a little trailer we'd haul around with all his equipment that just kept growing. And uh we'd drop him off in a neighborhood if he was doing work for several people or at a job and and it would just go from there. Now it's more so just kind of I'll go out with him look at jobs and tell him you know as he's you know kind of bidding him out so to speak or giving him a quote you know hey you know think about this and what you might have into it over here and and also just safety wise you know what what equipment he's going to need and handle and stuff like that. Um I don't want him putting himself at risk or even the homeowner you know at that point. So, yeah, a little bit less now. He drives and and he's got a a crew of guys that work with him that uh you know, they go out and they they do a great job. And I'll tell you what, I mean, his mom and I couldn't be more proud. I mean, he he's he's really smart, but he's a heck of a listener and you know, sometimes that that, you know, parents butt heads and we all do that. But the fact that, like you said, he's listened to you and he's listened to other guys. He takes advice from, you know, guys around here that have been in in the profession for a long time and and, you know, his business has grown through word of mouth. I mean, he doesn't advertise really other than just like neighborhood stuff and and his name names got out there because he does a heck of a job and he, you know, he goes back and makes sure it's done right and make sure everybody's happy and uh and I just told him, I said, you keep doing that and you're always going to be successful. >> Yeah. So, you're really kind of a second set of eyes to help him dial in his numbers cuz he sounds like a pretty motivated person. Very, very goaloriented and driven to the point of it being a fault, right? >> Yeah. >> Because you're always trying to bite off something bigger than you can actually chew, which can get you in trouble. So, but it sounds like between the two of you, you got this nice balance going on. Um, so Jake, what equipment do you have now? Uh well actively I mean so for uh just for mowing I mean right now I've got a CubCadet ZTXS554 uh you know use that on all of our bigger properties. Uh you know I've got a few different little push mowers that we use just kind of off and on just whenever we need them back little backyards or something. Uh I've got mainly Echo power equipment hand tools. Uh I've got a couple steel blowers that I use. um all sorts of just little knickknacks like different jackhammers and whatever that I don't I don't even pay attention to brands really anymore, >> right? >> Um but uh it's more just like you know what what's good enough quality that'll get me through the job at hand uh or you know a couple jobs down the road and if I end up needing it often I'll you know go and buy some a little bit better. But >> we got some we got some good rental companies around here that rent everything. I mean, you know, we've rarely ever run into a situation where, you know, we need to get something or he needs something for a project that he couldn't get it. Um, which is helpful. >> Nice. Well, congratulations again. You guys took home the grand prize. And now, are you guys going to enter the next one? Because I could see that one. There's no rules where you can't enter. We're giving away the truck and the Durahal trailer and two bins and a flat deck. And I'm guessing if Jake wins that one, Jake, you're gonna have a hard time peeling it out of your dad's hands because I'm thinking he'd want that one just as much as you would. >> I was looking at that the other day. Yeah. I mean, I was telling him I was like, "Dude, if I win that one, I mean, I' I don't know why I've always wanted to have a dumpster rental business." >> Yeah. >> And I was like, man, that could that's like a jump start right for that. I mean, that could, you know, propel so far down the road. I mean, basically take all the risk out of it because I'm putting all my like at 99% of the uh startup capital that I have to use is right there between that truck, that trailer, and those dump dumpsters. >> It's everything you need. Plus, you can haul your equipment because of the flat deck. You know how you know how long I worked on Durah Hall to build that flat deck, guys? Years. Years. Like, oh, we we're working on it, Stan. We're working on it. I'm like, no, you don't get it. We need it. This is an industry where it will propel you to the next elevation cuz there's plenty of dumpster bins places out there. Just not enough guys uh rounding out the whole line of services that guys like you and I cuz you know you're an entrepreneur. You're going to look for that opportunity wherever it comes, right? And you're going to be testing the waters constantly. So anyway, long story short, congratulations Jake and Rod. You're taking home the grand prize winner. That's awesome. It's so awesome to see you, especially Jake, 17 years old, busting your butt since you're eight years old to go home with this. It's just sounds like it's But it doesn't sound like it's everything you need. It sounds like you're going to grow right past this, which is great. Which is great. >> Oh, yeah. I mean, I'm looking forward to it. This is going to throw me so far down the road and I just look forward to keep on growing and growing and, you know, till till uh till I am able to, you know, buy even more equipment. >> Awesome. >> I guess. So, >> well, you know how I end all my videos. God bless and go get them. You wantless. You want to say it with me? One, two, three. God bless. >> God bless. >> Go get them. >> Get them. >> Thank you, boys. Appreciate it. >> Congratulations. >> Thanks, guys. Appreciate it. >> All right. You ain't going to like my plan, but um we're going to do it the oldfashioned redneck way. What? What do you mean that sounds dangerous? Yeah, it typically usually isn't the safest way to do things, but sometimes you just do make do with what you got. And we got a cast loader, and that thing will go 12T into the air. And then we have a pole saw that'll go another seven feet above that. And then once you're holding it over your head, you're going to gain six feet. So, we're praying maybe we can get close to that thing, but we've got a lot of work to do. So, let's pull out the castler. This is another example. And I don't try to sell these things to you. Although, although we do sell these at the dirt monkey shop now, thinking about that, I love the loader. I don't care. I don't care. This cast loader is I use this all the time. So, if you ever have a chance to get one, even if it's a used one, I would absolutely get one. Absolutely. Now, let's go to work. up here. [Music] Heat here. [Music] I guess let me hit the B. No. Oh. Kill back other way. Okay. Heck, I can get you right over the top of the fence. >> Okay, that works. Yeah. >> You want me to do that? >> Yeah. Oh, and this reminds me of why they call these a widow maker, Frankie. Because right now, without realizing it, I'm standing underneath the br the branch we're cutting. I maybe some of you guys know why they call these branches that are hung on other branches widow makers. Let me know what you think. But the way I was taught was guys go out, they see the branch, they start working, they forget about it, they start cutting other stuff, and then it comes crashing down on them. and makes a widow. And that is exactly what happens. You start to you start to work and you quit you quit thinking almost Okay, let's take me up a little bit. >> All right. Welcome to the jungle. Oh man. What do you think, Frank? No. I I Are they both broke? No, the bottom one is not broke. I don't know how we're going to get to the rest of it. Watch. That one might fall on you or barely miss you. Oh, the weight's coming off. You can see it shifting, Frankie. You can see it moving over there. >> Yeah. So, it's it's it's it's shifting the other way, which is what we want. Hopefully if it goes it'll go away from you. Oh, bad fall. Bad fall. >> Now, when this falls, it ain't going to hit the fence because it's going to go towards the tree. You know what I'm saying? >> In theory. And in the theory of two pole locks working together with one of them up in the bucket with a limb saw, cuz >> How about we trim this one here right away? Cuz that's what we do. Yeah. Now we back up and put the bucket over there. I'll work my way back. 10 four. [Music] All right, guys. I'm going to break in here because uh we got a pretty big project going on behind me. But we got a really exciting project going on and it's called the dirt monkey shop and you guys have been helping out amazing with that. So, thank you for that. But we've got an epic giveaway going on right now. So, hopefully you buy a t-shirt, a hat, a sweatshirt, cuz it really does go a long way to support us. But, let's dive back into this job cuz we got a lot going on. And so far, everybody's still doing good. >> You want to go up? Yep. >> Right where you're at? Yep. >> Just lift her up as high as I can. Yeah. >> I might have to come forward a little bit. Okay. All right. So, some of you guys are going to say what Frankie and I are doing is stupid, and I don't frankly give a crap what you think of it. You got to realize that guys like Frankie and I grew up dirt floor poor. I had a dirt floor in one of my homes. Uh, I lived in a camper trailer and my furnace room had a dirt bottom. I used to thought I think it was the coolest thing ever. Go play in the furnace room in the sand and the dirt. And Frankie was no different. And what that basically means, it doesn't mean we're stupid. It means you learn to get by with what you had even when you didn't have everything you needed to get by. And that became part of your absolute character. It's just the way you were. So, when I look at this and you see Frankie up there doing what he's doing, do I know how to do this paper? Could I rent a tree lift? Could I hire a tree company? Yeah, we absolutely can. Or Frankie and I can come out here and do this the way we're doing it because not because we don't know it's not the right way to do it. It's because it's just the way both of us are wired. We're wired to do stuff like this. Uh, maybe some of you guys don't get it, and that's fine, but some of you guys will get it. This is the This one's going to fall right on the Oh, nice. Missed. Crush my tree. Frankie, don't wreck my I had that custom. You know how long it took me to get that tree to go that custom brown color. Not very long. >> Hey, that's not the widow maker. You're cut. >> I know, but I'm watching that other one. Okay, so now that Widowmaker is totally balancing right now, Hey, I think that was a pretty close call, Frank. Yeah. Oh, well, whatever. >> I didn't even flinch. Why did I not flinch? >> I don't know. >> I don't know. I'm…
