What happens here

This project details a compassionate initiative to surprise a struggling family by completely mowing their overgrown lawn. The video highlights the process of gathering heavy-duty landscaping equipment, coordinating with team members (including an injured colleague), and executing the lawn care, focusing on efficiency and safety. It also features a heartwarming interaction with the family and a discussion about Grayson's passion for mechanics and landscaping.

good morning you guys we got a tough one coming at us today for a couple different reasons i got a phone call that there's a family that's struggling and they haven't been able to get to mowing their yard once yet this year they're having some issues and i don't know what those are and maybe we'll find out what they are maybe we will we won't but i just wanted to go out and surprise them by mowing their yard and just trying to take one thing off their plate but i learned over the weekend that alex got hit by a motorcycle at 45 miles an hour i guess he was going around a corner and a motorcycle clipped him and rolled flew him into the ditch and he rolled and hit the ground at 45. so he's out of commission but he's still working yeah you're like what do you mean he's out of commission but he's still working he's got a gimpy broken wing but in typical alex fashion he refuses to stay home i get he just can't this is a kid that can't sit so he's on light to no duty basically he's just making sure everybody else is getting their stuff done but i think i'm still thinking i'm going to need a hand with this site so i've called in a person and i'm going to work with person that i've never met i've never seen and we're going to see how this goes today i guess this person is a specialist and what they do and been practicing being on the dirt monkey crew for a while now so it could be could be an interesting day but before anything else happens we got to go load up equipment so let's go down to the yard right now oh let's see how alex is doing is that the same arm you broke before no i was this side over here i told you i told the guys you got hit by 45 miles an hour go on you're on a motorcycle and you're like going around the corner or something or what happened just on a straight road and he turned into me and uh i went there i didn't mean to swear but i went down and slid across the road and i must have shut my eyes when he hit me because i didn't really realize how i went down and i kind of opened my eyes and my head and shoulder was skidding on the ground a little bit i seen the bike going like this holy crap yeah saturday saturday three days ago yeah and he's already been to work i know i know i've been i'm just using this this is my dominant hand right here so freak i'd hate to get hit with the non-dominant hand this kid's a monster all right are you waiting for anybody else down here waiting for you cool all right well let's leave i got to leave it open anyway today because i got to come down here at 10 30 and load up one of these things is there a key in that loader nope it's just the code just the code okay same code as always right yeah all right cool well we'll slowly get this yard emptied out yup how's that big one working is this one still running good yeah that's the best it's gonna need to get blades but they still cut pretty good they still leave nice lines in the grass so it's like i'm still just doing great yeah i love that more i've loved that morse and not because it's got our face all over it but just because of it's just a good mower i've been moaning for a long time and nothing beats that motor right nothing beats the nothing beats the right all right but you like these hustlers too pretty good don't you they make nice lines in the grass but they just almost kind of feel a little chintzy you know like physically made yeah but other than that i mean they got good control and comfortable ride they mow nice but i mean they just kind of that one feels more commercial than that one you know that one feels like a nicer mower and maybe it's just because it's got the hand controls over the actual uh full controls like that so you guys have been using the new toro what's your thoughts on that one oh that one's awesome is it yup i just don't like the button the deck lift button yeah because i like when you're going up a hill and you got like a peak there i like to be able to lift the deck up with your foot and kind of so you don't scalp that paint exactly yeah so and then there's other spots too where it's just nice to lift the deck up if you know you're going to be going kind of around some funny landscaping you just can lift the deck up a little bit and it's no problem with that you gotta like push the button and you don't know exactly how high you are yeah you can kind of use your foot feel it and float it over there you know you're still cutting and your thoughts on it are i like it other than yeah that little deck thing you just don't like that deck lift on the handle huh i mean it's nice for just sitting there and doing this how about out of these mowers what's your thoughts on these oh that one's nicest you like that one the best one it's hard on hills like even the slightest little slope the smaller it does the side thing i mean i'm i'm talking just a real slight hill even if you're coming down straight head on down a small little incline if you pull back on the hydro just a little bit that one wheel is just totally stopping and skidding down skidding and you keep going forward you can't stop yes yeah how about the how about the big one that one is pretty nice i haven't written on it too much honestly okay all right well i just want to get your guys's two cents all right you guys have a good day hey and anytime you need this truck you know where the keys are just freaking grab it yeah i hate to say that because every time i say that it breaks down now it's gonna break down on me on the way up to the job site twelve thousand dollars in repairs in six months i i hope it would run pretty good yeah is it twelve or eight where are we at how much how much did we put into it twelve or eight do you know about ten about ten hundred coils and plugs in it over the weekend i bet tim is just dry heaving every time you you should call you know what you guys should do you should call tim up well we made it to the site with the truck i already already got him going too worried today all right maybe i'll do it then maybe it's my turn oh see you guys right you guys well i got a new trailer hitch the other day a heavy duty 20 000 pounder but this is a weird one i've actually not seen one that what looks quite like this one we prefer pintle hitches over standard ball hitches i just like that visual ability to kind of look at and go yep that is definitely secured but look at this pintle hitch tell me if you've seen something like this before they should flop down over the top that's it i don't know it's definitely a different kind of system than what i'm used to guess how much gas how much this pintle hitch and the heavy duty bracket cost me 600 587 later yeah i wonder why it's tough to make a living sometimes right you know i think the test of time is probably one of the most important things to really determine how well or effective a tool is and the question is what have you guys bought that you would absolutely buy again in a heartbeat i need to know because if there's something you guys have purchased in the past and you would repurchase it again that means it's done its job right [Music] i would buy this trailer again in a heartbeat this is a diamonds diamond seat trailer and it's got this weird floor i don't know what you call is like black plastic b floor freaking love this floor love this trailer okay i really hope they left me a key yes they did all right let's see oh yeah the guys have been using this for sure all right so the thing alex and uh jake were talking about is that deck height adjustment button is right here so it's built right into your handle right there so when you want to lower your deck boom and you lower it down to whatever your cut height adjustment is that you have it set over here if you're going up and over a curve you hit that button up and she'll raise all the way up versus stomping on a pedal or doing something else i just topped off the toro [Music] 33 to partially fill up one lawnmower thing's got to change you guys we are not going to self sustain at this pace ho nelly talk about humidity you come outside and it like slaps you in the face that's minnesota for you but i think we found the right place oh my god that grass is gorgeous look at this this is beautiful that's gone to seed right there well shall we knock on the door hi hi how are you i'm good i'm stan oh nice to meet you what did the city say i heard you got a like a notice you had to have it done like in so many days or something like that i have to get it done by tomorrow oh my gosh yeah okay all right well we'll get it all i've never had one before this is the first time do you can you show me around a little bit so i can yeah yeah yeah yeah that'd be great personally i think it's gorgeous you think so oh my god i love tall grass like that you know i mean because this is just a habitat for this is the way god made grass to grow this is heavy yeah i like it the fancier is the neighbor of course yeah anything here is that fences and then um let's see it goes all the way to those trees down there by the pond okay um these little things are actually little trees oh this is uh willows yeah these are willows right yep yep these are willows yeah so last year we couldn't cut it because our lawnmower was small so i had a new i had to mainly dig them out i knew the lawnmower won't be able to cut it see what can i can i mow it okay or do you want it left oh okay okay i can mold all of this i can probably get down to about here okay so it looks like we can stop at the oh no your yard keeps going yeah holy buckets k you don't you don't have a tiny yard are you all the way over to them you can stop here where the grass is over there belongs to that neighbor that neighbor didn't cut their grass either looks like they're gonna get the same notice that you got maybe they already got it i don't know yep so you might be able to get your little machine right it's one of those that i see people stand on that moves around like that no i got a 60 inch i get a big one i have no idea what that is so i got a big mower so yeah i'll be able to whip this out and the mower i brought today is going to be able to just do a really good job well i'm going to start unloading and get things rocking and rolling yeah well thank you stan i appreciate you so much you don't know how much i appreciate you uh it's fun to help i love helping people out are you grayson i'm stan how are you buddy i heard you pretend you're on the dirt monkey crew when you're watching my videos do you want to actually be on the crew today are you good with that yeah yeah pleasure to meet you sir nice to meet you so much nice to meet you chris what do you think grayson i'm gonna go with evan what's that [Music] thank you [Music] thank you what do you want to do i brought a mower for you i brought a trimmer i bought a blower you can ride on that with me i can't let you have it all by yourself but do you want to see what we're going to be doing today do you want to hear the story let's get some sunscreen on them and then we'll be ready perfect it's going to be a good day you guys are very good what's that i can't remember that i make ketchup family makes ketchup sandwiches ketchup sandwiches his friend said i love you g-man but that's gross [Laughter] so you go by g-man grayson if i had really anything don't you bud they used to call me g-man back in the day too the most recent video was the hustler the batwing yeah that's pretty sweet that's a cool mower for sure a little bit bigger than what we need all right g-man you ready buddy okay you want to grab this ramp yep i'm going to put this one on sure that's all right i'm not wearing any at all so you got a little bit more protection than i got you ready buddy it's in the back here grab this ramp and then slowly lower it to the ground don't get your toes underneath it you got it yep push it all the way down now you gotta step down on it okay now you do that one by yourself yup come on buddy you can do it do it come on g-man there we go all right perfect what's that oh we'll take it off and i'll show it to you we'll grab these out of here too come on up you can help me that's the eagle have you seen this one before i put that on the trailer yeah here push it over too or grab the west oh yeah you grab the rest i'll grab this one all right g-man underneath your feet and that drawer is some extra batteries oh chris can i get you to back up a little so i can pull the thanks dan the man and we'll leave we'll leave that last one in there just close the drawer up we'll leave it there just just see if we need it we got it warm enough for you hi how are you good nice to meet you nice to meet you too yeah what's your name i'm stan brannon brennan nice to meet you too man yeah he's telling me a little bit about it oh cool cool have a good day you guys all right grayson i'm gonna pull up i'm gonna pop this off and then i'm gonna show you how this works okay so let me get it off the trailer so right now we're mowing at three and a half inches so we see you guys so we uh so we're set at three and a half inches if you want to sit down grayson i'll kind of walk you through how this machine works okay yeah you can write on my lap i can't let you just drive it i have ride on one of these before with jim giller that's right all right so you're gonna ride on it with the dirt monkey here in about five minutes but first i want to get you familiar with it so here's our key here's our throttle if we needed to here would be lights but we don't need them this is a choke you want to see something that's really cool about this mower sure this button right here this is how you raise and lower the deck let me see if this is what it works yeah i don't have it on so when it's on you hit that button and it'll go down is it up right now it's up right now yep catch around and see how that looks go down to that three and a half it'll go down so when we hit the down button when we hit here it's gonna go down to three and a half inches does this move yeah well yeah you want to pop them up pop them up we won't need them can i put my water in the cup holder what do you want to put in there my water bottle yeah go for it let me get it buddy yep do you got a cell phone or anything you need to charge up no okay all right hop off let me hop on and then you can climb up on my lap and then we'll go we'll start to mowing okay chris is this all right cool all right come on up grayson you got to sit right here buddy okay that's the best we can do man otherwise i can't let you run the mower by yourself bud headphones okay i'm gonna i'm gonna fire it up are you good to go oh we gotta open these up every mower is different and go ahead close them up oh oh i'm gonna throttle it up can you hear me okay and once it's at three quarter throttle then we engage the pto you hit that button right there okay now we're mowing now we don't want to mow over anybody right all right go ahead all right some of you guys probably wondering how i met grayson well here's how i actually met him from chris boyles good afternoon sir my son and i have been watching your videos for quite some time and thoroughly enjoy them my son has special needs and likes to pretend he is on the dirt monkey team i'm wondering if you would ever allow us him to come out and meet you at a job site so grayson is 11 years old and when he was really young he just had an obsession with all things mechanical started with vacuum cleaners and then it kind of evolved to lawn mowers drills construction equipment and then when he was probably seven years old we took him to his first antique steam and tractor show and i think it gave us both the bug of all things mechanical and he's really just been focused on landscaping and construction and antique tractors ever since then um we found stanley dirt monkey on youtube he was grayson was probably searching for front end loader with a snow pusher or something and we found dirt monkey and here we are today all right we're gonna go down the hill now i'm going to help you here because we got to get tight to this fence go back down are you comfortable you're good okay we've had them tested for autism and all different you know kind of attention deficit and all that and they've never really been able to pinpoint down what exactly is they've kind of given a broad kind of diagnosis and it's just really neat to see him find a hobby that he's really passionate about and i've always joked he's gonna be the type of kid who he'll work at john deere and they won't need a computer and it'll just be you know that part's back over there so it's just it's fun to see him blossom and really find something that he's passionate about hey do you if you see us and we're gonna hit anything let me know okay like a hose or anything at all hey the reason we turn backwards is so we're not blowing rocks up into the windows okay so we're going to mow backwards for a little bit because we just don't want to hit all those windows tuck your head tuck tuck tuck there you go we're going to come as close as we can to the curb getting itchy from the grass me too all right should we just mow this area here and then we'll go do that hill okay now we got our pattern set right so now you want to take over and follow that pattern [Music] him and i we've been watching the dirt monkey videos probably for a few years now and it's interesting to watch stan's videos evolve over time uh the thing that we like and grayson likes about der monkey is that he does everything so it's power tools it's landscaping it's snow pushers it's anything for a boy who loves all that type of equipment so it's just been great to watch grayson really connect it seems like with stan in the videos and just stan just has a very just a very caring personality that comes across on the uh on the videos well what do you think grayson yeah you're catching on pretty lines i gotta use the fast mower if we're gonna use the push mower we saved some spots you see underneath those trees instead of getting brushed in our face we're gonna use the push mower to get underneath all those trees we and i didn't want to get too close to that bank because i didn't know what was going on and the last thing i wanted to do was end upside down in the ditch with you uh and a mower on top of us so i figured we'd give it a little bit of space did the hill you want to do the hill yep 10-4 back door we gotta set up a pattern grayson so we'll do the edge first and then we'll work our way in does that sound okay okay i'll set the pattern and then you follow the pattern now we're going to follow this rock line as close as we can as close as we can now we're gonna pick up our pattern here and once we get over here we gotta turn that way okay now you got it dad wants to try out the eagle mower and grace wants to string trips over here [Music] here that's all right it's mulching right now it's just covered up [Music] let's clean this up dice i think we wrapped it up huh absolutely let's drive up the lawnmower all right let's drive up the lawnmower that way you can see right where you're going i set the parking brake and grab this lever right here and pull that up right here yep all the way back that's it we be done there we go [Music] god bless and see you on another one see you on another one and go get them you guys
