Determine Tread Width with Nosing and Laminate — Step 3: Measure Your Stair Width
Part of project
Stair Tread Measurement · Step 3 of 4
In this video
To establish the correct overall width for the laminate pieces, begin by dry-fitting a piece of the laminate stair nosing against the existing stair edge. Then, position a full laminate board directly behind it, making sure it sits flush against the back edge of the nosing. This combination determines the total required depth of the new tread, helping to accurately account for the nosing's unique profile. Use a pencil to mark where the full laminate board ends, indicating the necessary width.
