Step 2 · Measure Your Landings or Winder Steps

For a flat mid-landing, use your tape measure to find its exact width and length. For safety and comfort, a landing should be at least 36 inches deep and match the width of your stairs. These measurements are key for a perfectly sized landing piece. If your staircase features winder steps instead, each one needs to be measured individually, as they are all unique. Be sure to measure the narrow inside edge, the wider outside edge, and the depth of each wedge-shaped step for that truly custom-made fit.
