Step 3 · Remove the Old Garbage Disposal

This is the step people usually slow down on. Go finger-tight first, then a quarter turn. No rush — replay the clip whenever it helps.

Loosen the mounting ring using a garbage disposal wrench or a large flathead screwdriver. Carefully lower the old unit, taking care to avoid damaging surrounding areas. Clean any remaining gasket material from the sink flange.
