Step 5 · Fine-Tune the Range of Motion
This is the step people usually slow down on. Go finger-tight first, then a quarter turn. No rush — replay the clip whenever it helps.
Fine-tune the range of motion by adjusting the pivot rod's connection point on the clevis strap. The clevis strap has several holes. Squeeze the two prongs of the spring clip together with your fingers or a pair of pliers and detach the pivot rod from the clevis strap. To allow the stopper to open higher (for faster draining), connect the pivot rod to a hole that is lower down on the clevis strap. To make the stopper close more tightly or sit lower, connect the pivot rod to a hole that is higher up on the strap. After selecting a new hole, re-insert the pivot rod and release the spring clip to lock it in place. Ensure the clip snaps securely over both the strap and the rod.
