Step 2 · Free the Jammed Garbage Disposal Motor

This is the step people usually slow down on. Go finger-tight first, then a quarter turn. No rush — replay the clip whenever it helps.

Locate the reset hole at the bottom of the disposal unit. Insert a garbage disposal wrench into this hole. Gently rotate the wrench back and forth to free the motor shaft. You should feel resistance at first, then the motor will turn once the obstruction is cleared.
