What happens here

This video provides a step-by-step guide on how to repair a damaged 1-inch Type A PEX pipe using the PEX expansion method (often colloquially referred to as a form of 'crimping' due to the secure joint, but technically an expansion and shrink-fit process). The repair involves removing the damaged section, preparing the existing pipe, expanding it using a specialized tool, and installing a new coupling with expansion rings to create a durable, leak-free connection. The process ensures a reliable water line system, particularly for PEX-A type pipes.

So, I came over to my friend's house. I mean, this is my tripod setup. This is where we're going to be working. But, I mean, check this out. He was looking for something. I don't know that he found it, but he ended up taking a sawzaw to a 1- in piece of type apex. He called me and he's like, "Hey, dude. I'm going to put this J-B Weld patch on this. No, I got something. Let me come over and we'll get this hooked up. So, come along. Let's get to fixing. It's just a clean cut with a sawzaw. So, I'm just going to scrape all this paint away. I think we just make one slice, put a coupling in there, and call it good. I bet that'll work. Take some of the strapping off. This is an interesting way to do this. So, I mean, at least they strapped it, I guess. Interesting. Just taking another piece of PEX to make sure it doesn't rub on the pipe strap. It's one way to do it. And I'm just going to use my fingernail to scrape away this paint. I do not want to damage this pipe. As I was getting this bag together, it's funny. I kept thinking, "Oh man, I feel like old Doc Baker, dude." But I love this little Milwaukee Packout bag. Got all my pack stuff going on here. Grab a gun. Grab a battery. So, this is a little bit smaller of a cutter than the other one I brought. Both rigid. I I really like their cutters. We'll see. We'll see what this does for us. You see, I got all that cleared off of there. And get that lined up right inside the cut. You always want to twist a little bit. There we go. Okay. Yeah, you can tell that's black. That's some radiant for sure. Couldn't ask for a better cut, honestly, for a place to cut it. I think it's good. This is the Milwaukee PEX gun that them and Upenor came out with. Thing is awesome. Tried and true. We got a 1-in expansion head on it. We got a couple of expand 1-in expansion rings and a coupling. This should be all that we need. So, there is more than enough space right here to just push this back a little bit. And it's going to be [Music] easy. When they're bigger, you're going to want to put a little bit. You want to do some more bumps on it. You You want to keep that trigger head down for a while. See? Oh, sorry, dude. Okay. I knew I should have put that in my pocket. Sorry if that jacked your wall up. You notice I've got some sheetrock. That's true. Yes, you do. Hold that trigger down just a little bit longer. Okay. And there we go. And now we'll just let that set right there for a moment and let that tighten up. Within 10 seconds, you're not going to be able to take that out. Like this stuff works really awesome. I love this. I'm probably going to redo my house in this though. I don't know. I might use PEXB, the Viega press. I still haven't decided yet, but I am going to have to repipe. And so then we can get up into this one. [Music] Okay. And now we can just pop that right in place right there. We'll just give that a couple more seconds. Have my friend turn the water back on and then we can we'll strap that back in place with this weird strap system they have. Oh, you need a little access panel. Just came over here and turned the water on right there. Have the water on. We got no leaky. We're good to rock and roll here. All right, let's try to get this here. Okay, now all he's got to do is patch some holes. Oh, this is crazy. I love it. So, if you don't have one of these tools, I think Home Depot might actually rent these at this point. I know that they sell them now and they have parts available to make repairs on your own. Type A PEX. Um, I don't know. Somebody let me know. I mean, I guess you could use a manual one as well if you needed to. Manual one would have been really hard in that tight space, though. I really hope this video helped.
