Willie Mullins Backyard ARCA Race Shop: The Everyman's Hero Born From Donlavey Racing

What happens here

To build a strong racing foundation, integrate historical equipment and seek mentorship from established figures in the racing community. Mullins' experience illustrates this: he acquired Robbie Gordon's former #34 Ford Fusion, a car with a significant racing history, and received crucial support from Junie Donlavey and Ken Bell. This mentorship included guidance and the acquisition of essential tools and parts, such as various ring and pinion sets, when Donlavey Racing's shop closed. Understanding and leveraging such heritage can significantly reduce startup costs and provide invaluable knowledge.

Goal: Acquire historically significant equipment and gain knowledge from experienced racers.

cool by tying all this together. My first time setting up my stock car was at Juny Dun Levby shop. So I didn't know much about it since I was coming from drag racing. So Ken Bell down there invited me down there. We used a surface plate, worked on my road course car right there on that surface plate and that was 2004 or five right after they had just shut down. Like right at the same time they stopped you started and it never >> and it it it was crazy because Juny was there and we were talking and you know he offered me a lot of help. I bought a lot of equipment when they closed up. So, a lot of the stuff I use to this day is still the same stuff from Dun Levy Racing. If you look, we got a Dale Quarterly car right here. This was his dirt car he ran, I think, Springfield with last. And he was getting out of the dirt. He didn't want to run dirt anymore, so he gave me a hell of a deal on it. And it was one of those things. It's a good car. Uh, you know, my wife didn't know I was buying it till it showed up kind of thing. And, uh, she wasn't happy, but, you know, it's one of those cars. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it. We had a couple little things we're going to do, too. We're either going to sell it or I'm going to run dirt with it. This So, this car is
