Drive Drywall Nail and Initial Dimple

What happens here

With the soft-face cap securely attached to the Stiletto hammer, position a drywall nail against the drywall panel where it will be fastened to a stud. Hold the nail firmly to prevent it from bending. Using the hammer, strike the nail head with controlled, steady blows. The objective is to drive the nail head until it is just below the surface of the drywall, creating a slight depression or 'dimple' without tearing the paper facing. The soft-face cap helps achieve this without marring the drywall. The dimple ensures that the nail head is recessed, allowing for subsequent layers of joint compound (mud) to cover it completely and create a flush, smooth surface after sanding. This initial dimpling prepares the surface for a seamless finish.
