When to Back Roll and Why? Staining with an Airless Sprayer.

What happens here

The video begins with an introduction to the project: painting a small shed. The presenter outlines the goal of painting the shed in approximately two hours and mentions that the shed has already been power washed the day before. He then discusses the benefits of using a solid color stain over a semi-transparent stain for longevity, especially in snowy, mountainous environments. The plan involves using an airless sprayer for efficiency, followed by back-brushing or back-rolling to ensure good penetration on the rough T-111 siding. Crucial preparation includes masking delicate areas.

Goal: Understand the project scope, materials, and benefits of solid color stain for shed revitalization.

Tools and materials

  • Airless Sprayer Graco 440 — Applying the stain quickly and efficiently
  • T-111 Siding N/A — The type of rough wood siding on the shed
