What Color FrogTape You Should Be Using

all right now we're getting ready to start the painting process and I want to talk about you know the tape I'm going to be using you know on this job now I have multiple options of tape that I keep in my trailer uh these are all frog tape products and I'm going to talk a little bit about each one of them and um what the product is and um when I would use it and then I'm going to talk about the two products I'm going to be using in this room and why I'm going to be using them all right the first tap I want to talk about is froth tape orange and that is my production tape frog tape makes that you know as um kind of a lower cost tape than the other options frog tape horns I'm going to talk a little bit about you know um the tape the technology on frog tape there's a polymer on the outside edge of frog tape that actually swells up when liquid hits it so when you put your tape down you mask on it you paint over it the polymer swells up so if there's any gaps in between your wall or whatever you're masking on that polymer is going to swell up the paint's not going to bleed underneath so it's going to give you perfectly straight lines when you know whenever you use the tape now frog tape production tape does not have that polymer on the outside edge of the tape frog tape blue does frog tape green and frog tape yellow does so that's one of the major differences you know about frog tape orange talk a little bit about release times you know each one of these tapes has a release time and it says right on the package you know what the release uh time is frog tape Orange is a production tape it has a lower release time it has a 3-day release which means you within that period of time it'll have a clean removal it will come off easy without splintering and without leaving the adhesive behind on your wall on your windows whatever you're masking on so the next tape I want to talk about is frog tape blue so frog tape blue does have the polymer on it it does have a 14-day release on that tape so it does come in multipacks it um has a different p than the Frog tape green and frog tape yellow does have the polymer once again on the outside edge of the tape this is you know a good option it's a little bit more expensive than um your production tape has a longer release time and it's a great tape if you want to get a perfectly straight lines CU it does have the polymer so if you're really concerned about paint bleeding underneath your um tape then um you know frog tape is an amazing tape so the next option is is frog tape green frog tap green has a 21-day release and I like you know a long release time I really like the tack the adhesive on the Frog tape green works almost perfectly in every scenario that I mask with where I don't want anything to bleed underneath it just the longer release time gives you the the option if you're to do it yourself you're going to mass this room um or do a lot of masking and you're going to be leaving your tape on the surface you have quite a bit of time you know to be able to have a safe release I really like the paper on this tape um it almost virtually never splinters and it's been just a great y tape it does come individually packed so um because of it's individually packed in the longer release time it's a little more expensive than frog tape blue but I've been using it for years and I use probably almost as much of the green as I um use of the orange so I always use green tape anytime I'm masking on my trim and I'm really concerned about you know any paint Bleeding Through the trim so I'm going to be masking um on the baseboards I'm going to be masking on my um around my door jams my window trim so be using frog tape green on that the other tape I want to talk about is frog tape yellow and this is a little bit different it's a unique tape it's um a delicate surface tape with a 60-day release now if you're going to be putting tape on for a long period of time and um not taking it off this is an option it's a delicate surface tape so it's designed you know to be U put on Floors you can put it on faux finishes decorative finishes wallpaper stuff like that and um it shouldn't damage the surface 60-day release it's a different type of paper it's a CRP paper really thin almost see-through has the polymer on the outside edge of the tape I use this uh exclusively when I'm asking on uh floors any type of floor that has a finish on it hard harb floors engineered floors um it's it's a great option anytime masking on a wallpaper but going talk a little bit about we're going to be doing Checkers on this wall I am going to be using frog tape yellow on um the checkers I may be painting on this wall for a very specific reason this this crepe paper is a really thin paper out of all these options this paper is the thinnest paper there off there is and it's going to leave um the a smaller Dam you know when it comes to painting and what a dam is is when you put masking on you paint over that masking you pull your masking that paint kind of leaves a ridge a line you know cuz the paint is um kind of it's built up that line once you repaint over you know anything if you decided you didn't like the checkers anymore you repaint over it you're going to see every one of those Checkers you're less likely to see it with frog tape yellow cuz the paint or the the tape is thinner it's going to leave a smaller Dam it's going to be a lot easier to remedy if you wanted to get rid of any Stripes lines anything that you masked on your wall and um and it left the dam [Music] behind [Music]
