WE MESSED UP BIG TIME! WATCH TILL THE END FOR HONEY BEE EDUCATION!

I've already made this video I made this video about 10 minutes ago and I'm going to show you what not to do when trying to steal honey from your honey bees we're robbing the bees today it's late in the evening it's a dumb time of day to do this I've already been stung I'm going to show you what not to do I got stung it sucks but come along with me we'll show you what not to do and later on in the week we'll show you what to do sometimes farming's failing guys hey guys this is Josh Stony Ridge farmer and this is Mrs Stony Ridge farmer hi she's not paying attention we're going over here we're going to get the honey out of the Beehive today so today is honey bee Harvest day I want to show you what is on the front of these beehives and I'm pulling up here to them right now this is a lot of stress okay this is one of the most stressful days stressful times when you're working with the honeybees I'm trying to drive and talk to you at the same time sometimes works and sometimes it doesn't so anyhow we're getting everything all backed up here going to use the old Mrs Stony Ridge for quite a bit of this have some fun I got me some fancy new Casey niack glasses here Walmart special $10.99 whatever Casey your $300 sunglasses this is farming this is a real Vlog Bridge Stony Ridge [Music] Farm W all right so guys first thing we got to do is we've got a weed eat right around here where the bees are because it's just too much grass for us to mess with so I'm going to weed eat this I'm going to put my bees suit on and I'm going to weed eat it see if we can get theah see if we can get the bees good and pissed off before we go over and start trying to extract the honey cuz that's the smart thing to do woo the grass is really high in front of the Beehive and I just haven't had time to get out here and weed eat it down but look at the front of these beehives guys it's insane uh we'll show you zoom in on there really good these are some active bees look at the front of these beehives this is going to be an adventure to work with these bees so I'm really not sure how aggressive they're going to be there's so many bees on the front of this Hive it is insane let me take the Cera in here really close so you can see and let you check them out hopefully it doesn't scare them all away when I start to uh um doing the weed eating look at all the bees on the face of these hives and they're just basically working diligently on the front of the hives here and this one doesn't have quite as many so we'll probably start with that guy there's a lot of bees on the front of these hives so let's do some weed eating see if we can make him mad one pull baby still one pull in then it dies they're getting pissy oh they're going to get me or sting me they like to sting me right in the butt or they like the private area genitalias is what we call them guys I'm not too sure this is a very smart idea but here's how we start our uh our smoker here basically I get this guy going got a little burlap in there got some good flamage going here we'll set this down over here safely get this thing flaming up good get some smoke going for these bees they're going to need it guys as many beeses on the outside of this Hive this is going to be a iffy stressful process okay we're going to go ahead and give him a little smoke here I think we're going to start with the craziest biggest Hive first it'll be fun all right so we smoked the front of the hive now we're going to crack the top here this thing is busting with bees insane holy crap I got to grab the camera and bring it over here look at all these bees this is a hive top feeder put sugar water in there look at all the bees this Hive is just busting wide open with bees it's crazy so we should have plenty of honey in here to harvest hi there hi this is Mrs Stony Ridge she's going to help so we should have plenty of Honey to harvest out of here guys we going to smoke them down a little bit we'll go ahead and preliminarily smoke the other Hive okay these hives are so full of bees I'm not sure how good this is going to work we may have to come back another time so we're going to crack this Hive open guys smoke these guys down a little bit this Hive should be very propolis in other words it should have a lot of propolis which is the bees the honey bees glue okay that's how they goo The Hive together here so far the demeanor of the bees is pretty good it beekeeper so that's in the bottom in the top top of the hive here okay got some honey right in there too pretty awesome so odds are this super is completely full of honey all right guys so the process here is we're going to smoke our bees down which The Hive is so full it doesn't even matter if we smoke them down we may may have to put a super in between our honey supers in order to get the bees out um and actually we've got rude in our honey super so we've got to pay attention to what we're doing here okay first thing we're going to do we're going to set this guy to the side you see what I mean there's honey on the outside but there's brood and eggs on the inside there did not anticipate this guys I did not anticipate uh brood being in the food area so there's honey up here here there's also brood right here um this Hive is just busting at the seam so I mean you see all these bees right here um it's just busting at the seams so we're going to have to rethink and come up with a little bit of a contingency plan you know when you're farming you got to think about that kind of stuff and uh we'll come up with a new plan here see what we've this is what we want guys this is what we're looking for this is capped honey delicious capped honey and this is what we want so we'll Harvest on the outside edges here all the capped honey and we'll go down to the next Super and see if there's any honey in it and this is delicious honey too this is popler honey it's a nice dark color I say popular but probably popular in Wild Flower so we're getting down in here with our Hive tool and we're opening things up a little bit bit we'll slide out of frame see what we've got that one's mostly honey yep some uncapped honey we'll shake the bees down in there nothing magical here guys we're just smoking the bees down and harvest in the honey it's only a matter of time here I can tell before these bees start getting a little GR shake them in there go to the next one all right guys abort Mission we're aborting this Mission these bees are getting very angry very hot very mad at me there's a lot of brood in the honey chamber which is very strange this is a WR time of day to do this we're going to get on this again tomorrow probably sometime around 11: to noon 1:00 something like that we really don't want to work these bees after 3:00 okay these bees are starting to get a little bit sting happy and I've already sustained a sting I don't want to sustain any more stings I think this is the wrong time of the day to do this the wrong thing to do so we're going to wait until tomorrow so come back tomorrow and we'll be getting into these bees and hopefully harvesting some honey there's not a lot of honey in here which is very surprising to me I'm not real sure what's going on but we'll work at it so in the meantime these bees are very crowded in their hive that display of bees on the outside of the hive tells me that they need more room so we're going to add some supers on and we've got one two three four four supers on this one and we're going to add one onto this one and one onto that one make sure the bees have plenty of room to work any beekeeper watching this right now is thinking that I'm a total idiot because what we're doing is not the right thing right now okay that's why we're going to come back the bees will let you know when you're doing something wrong they get Sting happy and they start stinging you you know you're doing something wrong and you deserve to be stuned and that's what happened I think I'm going to title this video what not to do when attempting to harvest your honey what not to do just got stung again oh we're going on to the next Hive we got the lid off take you over here and show you how full this guy is crazy so this is really really full we'll smoke them and you get to see the immediate reaction these these bees appear to be doing what's right they've got their honey in the top of the hive this is the Swarm that we caught earlier and I'll post a link to it at the end of the video uh we caught a swarm earlier in the year and this is the Swarm and they are doing awesome awesome awesome really happy with that we'll pop out one of their frames the these ones seem really happy okay this is called a screened Hive top okay this screen Hive top allows for air circulation in the hive we'll go in here and we'll get out our very middle frame looks like our middle three frames want to come out take a look see what we got here if it wasn't so late in the year I would say we'd do some splits but it's it's just too late in the year to do any splits and these guys are full of brood also uh if you want to see this is uh ready for eggs the queen may be on this Frame I don't see I see a lot of young bees o I see veroa Mite too so we got some veroa in this Hive it's the first veroa mites I've seen guys I going to show you this Frame of bees just so you can see the different age groups of bees the darker colored bees are older bees and the younger bees are like a lighter color um they're almost like pale it's really interesting to see if you get a younger bee you can see all ages of bees but you see that little white one right there walking across that's a younger bee it's like a baby bee that just hatched see it right there really cool something you might not know so we added one more Super on here guys and this is a super of already drawn comb that we used from the Harvest last year so I'm going to wrap everything up get everything back together guys this video is going to be titled what not to do when trying to harvest honey cuz this is a total fail I need to come back tomorrow in the afternoon let these bees work in these supers give them a little more room and come back either tomorrow the next day and try this again it's too late in the day way too many bees on the front of the hive I irritated them with the weed
