Cut Marked Pavers with a Wet Saw
At 0:15 in
Virtually every single paver.
What happens here
The marked pavers are then passed to another worker, identified as Juan, who operates a powered wet saw. This saw is equipped with a durable diamond blade, specifically designed for cutting hard materials like concrete pavers. As Juan makes each cut, water is continuously applied to the blade. This water flow serves two critical functions: it cools the diamond blade to prevent overheating and prolong its lifespan, and it effectively suppresses the fine dust generated by cutting concrete, which can be a significant respiratory hazard. Each cut is made precisely along the lines marked in the previous step, ensuring the paver will fit perfectly into the curve.
Goal: Accurately cut pavers to the marked specifications using a wet saw.
Tools and materials
- Diamond Blade — The abrasive disc that performs the cutting of the hard paver material
- Dust Mask — To protect the respiratory system from inhaling fine concrete dust
- Hearing Protection — To protect ears from the loud noise produced by the wet saw
- Marked Pavers — The pavers that have been pre-marked and are ready for cutting
- Safety Glasses — To protect eyes from flying debris and dust generated during cutting
- Water Source — Cooling the diamond blade and suppressing concrete dust during cutting
- Wet Saw — To precisely cut the pavers according to the marked lines
