Uh oh, a rafter dying in to another structure?! What could this be?!
What happens here
Once the wooden component is perfectly positioned, use a pneumatic nail gun to securely fasten it to the existing frame. Drive several nails through the newly installed piece and into the supporting lumber at appropriate angles to ensure a strong, rigid connection. The video shows a Hitachi brand nail gun being used. Always maintain a firm grip on the nail gun and ensure the safety tip is fully depressed against the wood before firing. Wear safety glasses and hearing protection when operating a pneumatic nail gun, as it can be loud and nails can occasionally ricochet.
Goal: Permanently attach the wood component to the framing structure.
